to mark the occasion of me actually making a separate art blog, here's a collection of Vadras
You Are My Sunshine
She had promised to stop trying to tail him, but she’d said nothing about watching. To her knowledge he knew nothing about scrying, and it still meant she was not there to directly assist him in any way as he wanted. She was content to check on him once every day to two, even if it sometimes came with worry of its own. Naturally the spell would fail on occasion, but she could always just check the next day. But then it just stopped altogether. Day after day, week after week, turned into what had to have been at least a month.
Eschvyre tried to console her, assuring her that he had to be fine out there somewhere. “You knew when you asked me to train him that some day his mind may be too strong to follow,” she’d say, or “Perhaps he somehow ended up on another plane in search of adventure.”
But none of the words made if feel any better. None of the words made the nightmares that plagued her with all the thoughts of what could have gone wrong go away. Nothing could change the fact she’d never once said the words “I love you.”
Another amazing storyboard piece done by Earthsong9405! I gave her a rough outline that she took and absolutely knocked out of the park.

Vadra, the Brass Dragon
The NPC most important to Friend’s backstory, the elven form pictured above is an alternate form that Vadra takes on while interacting with the world at large. She has other humanoid forms that she might take on from time to time, but that of an elf tends to work best when you’ve the memory of hundreds of years. Fewer people ask questions that way. Shape shifting also make discussions with others much easier when you do not have to constantly look down all the time.
This particular outfit of hers is inspired by The Seer by DistantDream. Vadra’s elven guise was designed by Earthsong9405 as a commission.
Cats Don’t Dance
Having lived quite the long life, Vadra has become an important figure in several cities outside of the Shakadi Desert. Many nobles seek the attendance of a brass dragon at important gatherings for their skills of negotiation and their long memories. Vadra has never once turned down the request of her attendance, as such gatherings are a great source of knowledge. She would never claim to have any friends from these nations though, knowing that she is simply a tool to them.
Then came along Friend of Foe, an actual friend that she had made on her own terms. Perhaps getting him to attend with her would make the gathering more enjoyable. It would be difficult though. He did not like to wear clothes, to which she understood to a degree. Dragons had no real need of clothing either, but it was the social norm in most humanoid civilizations. It took some time and many bribes to finally get him to wear the bare minimum, cover up just enough to make them all comfortable.
Then came the more difficult task of dancing, which he claimed to have zero experience with. She would not relent though, eventually getting him to practice with her. He would avoid dancing at all costs when the time came at the actual gatherings, but in Vadra’s secluded lair the Tabaxi would cave.
Ultimately these gatherings would lead to Friend’s return to life on his own, as his large ears could hear far too much. It started overhearing some of the nobles refer to him as things such as “the dragon’s pet,” which started to bleed into his normal trips to nearby villages. No longer did it feel like they were kind to him of their own accord, nor was he feeling like he was accepted for who he really was. It hurt to make the choice, but he decided to set out on his own to see the world once again. He will return to visit often, but he avoids the neighboring villages.
