Cry for help || Xera & Mina
Pieces were starting to fit into place. Xera had an idea what was happening to her, which, admittedly didn’t sit well or help much. It was still killing her. She knew that, she’d known that since before she went and saw Liana. She’d known before Mathis said anything, though she hadn’t made the connection that it was her bracelet till he’d said something. She was still reeling from that bit of her journey. That boy.... He irritated the crap out of her, though at this point it was more because the mere thought of him enraged Harmony in the back of her mind and Xera was growing tired of having to push her back and keep her quiet.
Stop fighting, then. It’d be better for the both of us. Admit it. You’d get to rest and I could have...fun! Blue eyes would never bother us again. Come on Pollyanna, let my out!
Xera huffed at the voice and grabbed the keys off the counter in the kitchen. She’d been putting it off, but she couldn’t anymore. She’d talked to Alex, a little. Explained what was happening. He was good at letting her talk. He didn’t offer judgment or even acknowledge what she was saying sometimes. In the early days of their strange friendship, she’d wondered if he was even listening, but he’d pull out some sage advice that would leave Xera pondering her position in her issues. He was good at making her think. So, they’d talked, when she’d been out there, tending to Percy and Margo, about what was going on and why she was so sick. He’d noticed the very first time she’d gone up there, but that came as no shock. She’d known him since she was a teen, he would have noticed the change from healthy to not. Her body temp, while the same as a standard mortal, was a dead give away.
After their talk, after he’d given her the description of a sorceress that could help her and told her where to find said sorceress, they’d gone back to being quiet and interacting with the horses. They’d even gone riding to get the blood pumping for the horses in the hopes of keeping them warm. It had been a great afternoon and something Xera had been in serious need of.
She hadn’t said anything at the time but when Alex told Xera where to find her, the old firestation, Xera had known who he was talking about. It had been this reason that she had put it off. They had crossed paths twice in the past year and it had not been that stunning. Really, Mina had seen Xera at nearly her worst both times. And now what? She was supposed to just walk up to her and ask for help? She’d been downright awful to her the one time Mina had offered.
Pride. Pride was standing in Xera’s way.
I don’t know why you’re even entertaining this. She’s not going to help you. I’m going to get stronger while you get weaker. Eventually, I’ll be able to break free. It’s a good thing you don’t like narcolepsy boy, we won’t see me coming.
Harmony cackled in the back of Xera’s head and grip tightened on the keys in her hand. It took her all of a moment to push Harmony back again before she was grabbing her jacket and heading out the door.
She knew exactly where the firehouse was, it was only a few blocks walking distance from her shop which meant it was a few blocks more from her house. She walked right past the shop, ignoring the urge to check in on her sister. She knew the shop was in good hands. So instead she found her way to the fire station and rang what she hoped was a door bell.
