Why yes I wouldAnd after a lot of thinking, I decided on the name. Vega⭐️🌌 based on the brightest star of the northern constellation of Lyra 🌌
Why? I have a couple of reasons:🌟✨🌌🌠
It’s familiar to her old name so it will be easy to get used to but also different enough with the pronunciation. For Va-it’d have been pronounced as “ahh”, but here it’s more like “ayy”. It’s also got similar name meanings like “meadow dweller”, and “swooping/falling eagle”. It’s also still a Spanish name/surname so it can still connect with her roots🇸🇻
2. Huge difference in meaning is that her old name in full(Vagabond) meant someone without home or support, a wanderer, symbolizing how she felt alone and not have a real home. But now at the hotel she has all that and thus decided to change her name. Her new name is now connected to the Star Vega! An iconic celestial body within the night sky 🌌 Comparatively it has much more positive meaning compared to her old name⭐️🌠
3. It ties back to her angelic routes but in a more positive way. Something celestial/part of the sky but rather than something that brings harm, it brings light & joy. Not to mention stars are often associated with angels/the heavens. And in Hebrew, Vega means “He who shall be exalted”, to be lifted up into a higher position or value. She went from being one of the fiercest exorcists, then becoming a fallen angel, to being lifted back up as a support figure and protector to not just Charlie but the people around her in Hell. Not to mention back in the day, ancient Babylonians called the star, Dilgan meaning “The Messenger of Light” and other positive meanings in varying cultures and religions. Also connects her with the Morningstar Family🌟🪽
3. She’s Charlie’s star/light. She helps guide her when she’s lost and confused, there to guide her back to help. Like a star in the night sky. Fun fact, the Vega Star was originally a northern star ⭐️ 🌌 not to mention, stars in general are associated with positive meanings such as dreams, guidance and hope.
4. Stars are often associated with the moon/night. Moths are nocturnal creatures drawn to light.
5. The Vega star is well associated with a Chinese Mythology love story, “the Cowherd and the Weaving Girl”, where a mortal and the heavenly goddess of weaving, had fallen in love but separated by the Milky Way as their love was forbidden but get to reunite on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, tying her back to her love with Charlie❤️🌌⭐️ there’s many visual retelling on YT! The herder(Niulang) represents the Altair star(another star part of a constellation, the Aquila/Eagle) while the weaving girl(Zhi Nü) represents the Vega star.
6. The Vega’s star also connected to the Lyra Constellation, which represents the lyre of Orpheus, symbolizing music, harmony and appreciation for the arts! Which fits well with our musical cast🎼🎵
7. The Vega Star’s got a bluish white hue. Which fits well with my Vega’s color motif being around indigo💙
