Posted • @jonasanti The patronage of the church of Valega belonged until 1150 to private individuals. From that date until 1288 he belonged to the Monastery of São Pedro de Ferreira, after which, until 1583, he belonged to the bishop and chapter of the Oporto Cathedral. Later it was exclusive to the chapter that maintained until 1833. The temple was originally founded in the place of the White Pebble, where there are no traces, passing in a period not later than the fifteenth century to the place of the Spine, in the place now called Adro Velho. In the mid-eighteenth century its implementation came to be where it is today, the works began in 1746, and has consumed more than a century. In the twentieth century, between 1923 and 1958, conservation work was carried out on the initiative of J. O. Lopes and his wife, M. J. O. Lopes, in which the construction of the current ceiling of exotic wooden boxes stood out. Igreja Paroquial de Válega ou Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Amparo. Válega é uma freguesia portuguesa localizada no extremo sul do concelho de Ovar, distrito de Aveiro.
