Otagenki Report #3: a video essay on a ride through Northridge organized by CICLE, Valley Bikery and the CSUN Bike Collective. Like the other two Otagenki Reports, this tells its tale visually. Eventually there might be an Otagenki Report with narration or even instruction, but I like the fact that I don't have a language barrier here. Anyone, from anywhere in the world, can dig on this. This is the first time I set up my Sony ActionCam on a mount on the "trunk" of my bike. The results were eye-popping. The ActionCam has Sony's famous "SteadyShot" technology already built in, but the combination of SteadyShot plus a more stable platform than my helmet made for super-smooth road action, albeit pointed out into the pack rather than specifically capturing my point-of-view. I think I will use my ActionCam this way whenever I film a ride from here on out. If you can get the chance to go out and ride in a group ride, especially one organized by seasoned vets like CICLE, go for it. You don't have to be anywhere near an elite rider to go on a neighborhood ride like this. They are designed for noobs. Get on your bike and have a blast.
