Canon EOS 250D | 35mm | 1/320s | f/8 | ISO 100 Taken on 20/06/2021. In Val Nervia, a short distance from the coast, there some so-called inland capitals, and Dolceacqua is rightfully the most important. Built on ancient Roman-Ligurian foundations, it nipped its development in the bud during the Middle Ages due to the power of the Doria family from Genoa. Dolceacqua would become the seat for a marquisate governing the area inland of the borders of the Ponente Liguria. One of the views I'll never forget is this one taken from above the more recently developed village on the right-hand bank of the Nervia river. Here I managed to capture the entire 'Terra' which is the more ancient settlement of Dolceacqua, sheltered by the ruins of an imposing castle. You can also see the famous 15th-century pedestrian arch bridge, 'Ponte Vecchio', which has inspired so many artists including Claude Monet whose oil painting 'Bridge at Dolceacqua' was finished in 1884.
