The cat catches a fish
The second coat of arms competition was organised for Valtimo. The committee gathered 19.11.1951 and out of 64 coat of arms proposals the committee gave prizes to three and gave additional awards for two.
The first prize went to Olof Eriksson's "Hurtta" (Hound), the second to Gustaf von Numers' "Paimenpoika" (Herdboy) and the third to Tapio Vallioja's "Huhta kuningas" (King of the woodland clearing). The two additional awards went to Vallioja's "Laajat riistamaat" (Vast hunting grounds) and to Ahti Hammar's "Jouset" (Bows).
The municipal council decided to choose Hurtta to become the coat of arms of the municipality but with minor alterations.
Seuraava pohjoiskarjalainen kunta, joka järjesti vaakunakilpailun oli Valtimo. Vaakunakilpailulautakunta kokoontui 19.11.1951 Helsingissä. Kilpailuun oli saapunut 64 ehdotusta, joista lautakunta palkitsi kolme ja lunasti kaksi.
Ensimmäisen palkinnon sai Erikssonin "Hurtta", joka viittaa kansantarujen Simo Hurttaan. Toisen palkinnon sai von Numersin "Paimenpoika" ja kolmannen palkinnon sai Valliojan "Huhta kuningas." Ensimmäiseksi lunastettiin Valliojan "Laajat riistamaat" ja toiseksi Hammarin "Jouset".
Kunnanvaltuusto päätti valita "Hurtan" kunnan vaakunaksi, joskin hieman muutettuna.
The Ylapiha Farm Finland celebrates Christmas to Nuutinpaiva which is 13th January. Miss Harmitus Mitsupissi wonders what language the lady of the house is speaking. We at the Ylapiha Farm Finland protect old fields, meadows and other rare agricultural areas to keep alive our anchesters heritage. We don't forest them even it promises lots of financial income. In this video we visit old field which has been cut down of the trees to rehabilitate it back to a meadow. Thank you Stora Enso and S. Kuittinen co-operation. The farm protects rare swallows and other little birds for example feeding them at winter time. We wish that we could get a new contractor to help us to the agricultural work.
