Oh yeah I finally started watching the 2nd doctor era. I wanted a good first episode and ik people like tomb of the cybermen so I've been watching that and I just have to say: I LOVE the creepily organic tomb?? The fact that it was compared to a honeycomb?? then all the cybermen (this is a great cyberman design too- not a fan of the cybercontroller bc he just looks like a giant penis imo but all the others look so cool) start breaking through this clear organic plastic wrap stuff after defrosting and AHHHH it looks so gorgeous and alien. Especially when they start thawing and all you can see are their shadows behind the screens?? and I know what cybermen are already so seeing them move so fluidly is even creepier because I'm used to the nuwho versions where they're comically robotic.

Theres a lot of problems with this story obviously but I think this one scene is one of my new favorite doctor who visuals

and looking back on it, Dark Water is similar with all the rows of cyberman skeletons in tanks but I don't think its as effective. The costumes are cheap looking and there are fewer cells overall, but this just feels truly alien to watch in comparison to cybermen violently breaking through glass and going DELETE! then zapping people with electricity. These cybermen are so much smarter

"you will be like us" is so much scarier than "DELETE" even if I can't understand wtf the cybermen in this story are saying half the time

In fifth grade, as a class we read this book about this kid who is obsessed with calculating numbers of pi and believes that the number pi tells a story of this guy (Pi)'s journey home following the north star. theres a lot of surreal stuff I remember only vaguely, like the mom whos made immortal waiting for her son to come home and has the main characters dig her grave and they find her sons body in catacombs I think??

but one thing that always stuck with me was when the protagonist meets Pi kid, he's listening a Billie Holiday vinyl and Pi kid tells him that he always listens to Billie Holiday when it rains.

Anyways, I found a Billie Holiday CD and I'm going to steal that arbituary rule for myself.

At some point in the last year or so I've transformed into someone who craves cranberry juice everyday.

currently attempting to babysit a baby praying mantis. He's my new nephew, wish me luck, i have to keep him alive until next friday bc im going to skip school to deliver him to his actual father.

i have listened to the first series of gallifrey audios FINALLY and when i get more money soon I will be listening tot he next ones im so excitedddd. 1.2 wasnt my favorite (i just felt awful for leela the entire time) and the inquiry was average but 1.4 was SO GOOD I LOVED IT KDPFKDJFID it got me hooked again
