SUMMARY
“I missed you.” Keith’s words break through the flow of thoughts in Lance’s mind--a sudden breath of fresh air unexpectedly batting Lance in the face.
The corners of Lance’s eyes crinkle. “Yeah?”
“Mm.” Keith’s finger circles the top of his glass, ice cubes clinking together. “It’s boring on my own.”
“Is that why you invited me here?” Lance arches an eyebrow; he has never seen the vampire quite so hesitant before. Never this vague.
“We keep letting too much time pass us by,” Keith begins with an explanation but leaves too much dead space between his thoughts that Lance has to fill in.
“I have a feeling this is more than a little reunion.”

EXCERPT
“You’re actually terrible,” Lance needs to comment on the obvious.
A glare is sent his way. “What point of ‘I do not know how to dance’ did not get through your thick head?”
“I thought you were being modest,” Lance replies honestly, “But you’re awful; this is fantastic.”
“I’m glad you’re amused.”
“You’re such a delight to be with,” Lance says, eyes wide, “And I mean that in the least sarcastic way possible.”
“You’re going to be the death of me,” Keith mutters with a short laugh.
Lance shakes his head with a grin. “You’re already dead, love.” He spins them around when the beat of the music calls for it, cutting off any response Keith may have.
MY COMMENTS
Hold on, give me a second. I need to scream.
Alright, Christ, this fic is going to be the death of me. This is the trope “I’ll keep on coming back to you” except taken in a literal sense and it’s done beautifully. The way this fic is formatted, scenes and shots from over the years, wrapping up their present ‘timeline’ makes me so soft, my God—
A Shklance vampire/Mythic AU? Everyone is only partially human, basically. More down below!
-Society is made up of mostly humans and Mythics. Basic ones like Mer and Fae and Witches, with other subclasses and such.
-Lance is part Mer on his mother's side, and has a full mer form he can control at will. His family is from the tropical waters, making his scales and fins a very bright shade of blue with darker hues and some silver scales mixed in. He's bioluminescent and can control this ability at will, as well as having excellent night vision. However, being part human (he's more Mer than human) means he does have to live on land most of the time. The maximum he can stay Mer is about a year. Any longer, and when he turns back his legs are effectively useless for a long time. After a few hours in mer form, he can't walk as well as usual for at least an hour. He always keeps a tiny bottle of water with him, since sometimes when panicked he forgets to breathe air and attempts to breathe water instead, which makes him choke and cough. *Added note: the tail is essentially boneless and can bend any which way, controlled with cartilage and muscles.
-Pidge is half Garden Fae. Her Mom is Fae and her Dad is Human, Matt is half as well. Pidge got the powers (The power only manifests in Female Garden Fae) and Matt is relatively Human. Garden Fae are a little bit shorter than average, but Pidge can grow vicious vines and flowers that have different affects because of their pollen, like sleep inducing and paralyzation, or internal injuries. Basically, don't cross the tiny Fae. She can take you down from the inside. Wings are also a thing, but she keeps those tucked away because she'd rather play with all her tech toys. Tiny but mighty.
-Hunk is a Witch of the Earth. He's pretty powerful in his own right, but his parents are way stronger. He doesn't like using spells for harm, but will if forced to.
-Mythics pretend to be human unless the situation demands otherwise. It basically looks like a full-human world. Which is why when Pidge, Lance and Hunk meet Shiro and Keith, they pretend to be full on, normal humans.
-Shiro and Keith are vampires. They don't know that the world has become mainly Mythics mixed with Humans, as back in their time Mythics were shunned and attacked, often killed by humans. So they are initially afraid of Lance, Pidge and Hunk, until proven otherwise.
-Vampires are a very rare, almost thought to be extinct Myth, like the unicorn or dragon. Pidge wants to prove this theory wrong, so she yanks Lance and Hunk along to an old forest where Vampires are supposed to exist, as animals completely drained of blood have been found there and sightings have been mentioned.
-There is no Anti-Mythic government out there, no Kill All The Non-Humans or Humans Only groups. Not in this story. The Galra, however, are a bunch of scary were-beasts that like to kill other Mythics for fun. Mer are the most common game to hunt. Since they can't swim, they often make games and dares on who can catch the prettiest swimming Mer and bring it back to make a meal out of, since Mer scales are a prized fashion accessory inland across the ocean in other countries and the Galra like the taste.
-The above reason is why Lance and his family moved to the current country, since one of his older cousins was caught protecting him and was killed for his scales. Lance vividly remembers those bright gold and orange scales getting stained red, and sometimes he'll wake up screaming because of it. Hunk made him a charm to ward away the nightmares, thankfully.
-Shklance is a thing :) I'm thinking Lance gets attacked by Galra, he trills and stuns the Galra, Shiro and Keith get him out of there even though he's in Mer form, and he's so scared and trembling and crying for someone they don't know of and he's clearly seeing something they can't- i'll leave that there so I can write it out later. Muahahaha~
-there's gonna be angst and pining. Sooooooo much pining. Like a pine tree. Like Washington! Haha get it? Washington is the Evergreen (Pine Tree) State. I live to write pining children muahahahaha~!!!
-this was inspired by a number of other fics as well as my own ideas? Yeah. It's been in my head for a while…..i'll probably start this after I finish or while the Cat AU is coming to an end. Which won't be for a while? Hmm. Maybe!
Sudden Klance AU idea where Keith and Lance's Grandfather were a thing (vampkeith) but Lance's grandfather was also in love with a woman and chose to live his life as a human.
Several years later, Keith meets Lance and just falls for him hard.
*several dramatic episodes later*
Lance confronts Keith feelings for him and needs him to know whether it's him he loves or his Grandfather.
Keith meets his old flame *screams*
"You love him don't you?"
Keith realizes how much of an idiot he is and goes to Lance.
*more dramatic episodes later*
Lance says goodbye to the things he loves, his friends (pidge, hunk), his family, the sun, garlic knots, etc.
His grandfather passes way not long after and realizes how terrified of death he is which only determines his wish to be a vampire. He loves Keith terribly and can't bare the thought of being separated from him.
"An eternity is a long time." Says Keith. "Are you sure you want to do this?"
Lance looks up to his love, a smile that makes Keith heart throb.
"Yes."
They meet up with Shiro.
(Still unsure how vampires are made at this point but they're successful and now we have baby vamplance!)
