If he were honest with himself, Cardin would have looked a bit deeper into her words. But there were times when that jovial, hopeful fun the two of them had together a long time ago, would come out naturally. This being one of those times, Cardin didn’t take Trivia’s words very seriously, only looking to the dishes he had in his hands, putting them away and only half listening to her words.
That was until he heard the sound of a box being moved, set down beside him and once turning his head to the noise, there she was. Just about his height now, her eyes capturing his easily causing him to be stunned for a second unexpectedly.
She added onto her statement from before, now the tone growing a bit more serious. Putting down a shoddy plate, he replied with a tone to match the mood.
“I told you I don’t mind. Plus, doesn’t animal blood taste horrid? At least, that’s what other vampires told me.” His shoulders lowered, softening. He knew what the long term effects would be on him and from where Trivia stood, she could see the spec of tinted red over a small part of his left eye. To others, it would seem like a blood vessel rupture, but to those who knew better, it was an oncoming feral addiction that would leave him as nothing more than a walking cadaver.
“Either way, I get it. I know you’re worried. But don’t worry about me. I hate seeing you suffering, I would rather you get what you need from me than innocent people.” Cardin believed in morality, he beloved vampires to be cursed and caused that morality to be helpless to said curse. In his mind, he could save Trivia’s morality if he could control who and what she ate.
