I haven’t personally seen anyone try this combo, but I’m not really in any circles where both interests would overlap.
Before Whoops Apocalypse, I found a nekkid Barbie Edward doll at the corner thrift store. Looking at his features, he’s yet another candidate for making a good doll!Ravus, and frankly, perhaps the best available to me. So, I bought him, with the intention of buying the giant sweater BMR1959 doll, to rob it of its pale made-to-move body.
That took a few months, but success is at hand. Or, in hand. My lot of Liv dolls & wigs finally sold on ebay, so I basically traded them for the BMR body (and a distressingly cute official Barbie 1:8 flying-saucer charcoal grill) to get on with the experimentation.
The color match isn’t perfect, but it’s better than some unmodded, vintage stock combos. The death pallor is still slightly lighter than the body, but hell, so are the arms, and they came that way. Actually, in my desk lighting, I just now noticed that the head and arms are almost a perfect match, but the torso & legs are just barely peach-er. Weird.
But yes: if you are into the Twilight dolls or just like their paleness but wish they had more posability, man-bun BMR doll is close enough to hook you up. Especially, once your Frankensteined vampires are re-dressed. I don’t know if all of the male vampires are the same shade of death (I never would’ve gotten one, without this thrift opportunity,) but it seems like they should be, from Mattel’s want to save costs.
This head needs rerooted entirely, but I think the eyebrows are the only thing I’ll have to paint from scratch, to make a good Ravus. Painting over the pale brown eyes with blue/purple shouldn’t be too hard, and his many, many freckles are just tiny dots. When will I actually do that? Well. Hmm. I guess we’ll find out.
I love Countess’ hair color, and that they gave her a widow's peak. Her tux is cute, and I like her shoes and fishnets too. The little drop of hot pink blood on her chin is a great detail too. She makes me kinda want to make a Draculaura LOL to hang out with her...
I'm over the moon with Winifred and Cordelia's new dresses! Hopefully soon I'll be able to send them off for matching face-ups... but for now, creepy twin powers, activate! 😈
