I’ve been thinking about vampires gifts all day so buckle up because this is gonna be just a mess of word vomit that doesn’t make a lick of sense. Whatever, it’s gonna be fun.

Okay, one of the most interesting parts of vampire gifting to me - other than who has a gift and who doesn’t - is how these gifts evolve. In the books we’re told that some gifts take to even begin to show, let alone continue to change. 

Kate’s been working ‘for centuries’ to try and get her current to run off her skin, and even continues working on it in the book implying just how long it can take for gifts to develop and change. Similarly, Aro was trying to see if Afton’s gift of mental invisibility could be trained so he could make others invisible too. These attempts have also had minimal results, but he can kinda include others. Not near to the level Aro wanted, but there was still growth.

In fact, the only person who’s gift grows during the series is Bella, only after intense training, but it did change. It became stronger because of the the very real need for her to be able to hold off the volturi’s powers not just for herself but for everyone. Yes Kate was trying to improve her own gift at the time, but her success wasn’t needed for the success of the trial. Wanted? Most definitely, but it wasn’t nearly as important as Bella’s improvement. 

This brings the very real question as to whether or not this need determined how her gift changed. Eleazar says there are so many different ways similar gifts can present and function because no two people think the same. So what if its a nature vs. nurture thing? Like part of the reason two gifts differ is partly because of the nature of a person (i.e. their think differently) but also because the nurture is different (i.e. the external pressures pushing a person to use their gift a certain way).

How much more interest would Aro have in with these vampire with fairly uninteresting gifts if he could influence how those gifts changed? Or conversely how much more would he want to keep an eye on a vampire like Maggie or Charles, because being able to tell when someone’s lying is unsettling, but what if it became an ability to make people tell the truth?

Jessica's 'gift' is happiness induction just like Didyme's power. She's already showing her obvious power signs whilst she's still in her human form. So naturally I thought; gifts are more enhanced when you're transformed into a vampire so it's possible that Jessica's gift may develop once she becomes immortal. A few vampires are already attached to her whether it's a friendly or romantic relationship. I presume that she will be a dangerous individual since she can already easily sway others.

Technically I didn’t explicitly state her gift is happiness induction. I remember reading somewhere no gift will ever be the same because of the individual’s uniqueness. I would say it’s similar to her’s but different in how it affects them. I would say she has something like emotion amplification and emotion empowerment. Emotion amplification, as the name states, is the ability to increase/augment existing emotions. Emotion empowerment is the ability to gain strength from one’s emotion and others’. This is very subtle at the moment and I took into account that Jessica feels like a stranger at Forks and her having been in Lauren’s clique, Jessica had to be both emotionally and mentally strong to deal with situations that entails being part of Lauren’s ‘friends’. Not everyone can handle being in ‘mean girl’ clique, you’re going to have to be thick skinned to be a mean girl. 

Yes if Jessica develops her gift as a vampire, then it will make a quite a dangerous but useful gift when manipulating an individual. But Jessica won’t use her power for such things (not anymore, she’s done with games when she gradually distanced herself from Lauren and her friends). I’ve had a feeling Jessica is quite sensitive to emotions of others in the novel and the movie so I think it’s a suitable power without resembling too much of Jasper’s or Corin’s power.
