Vampire!Robby and Werewolf!Abbot taking the shifts that don't suit their supernatural sides at all. Robby taking the day shift (when he should be asleep) and Jack taking the night shift (when he should be free to transform) and maybe it's like a kind of self-flagellation but also they just hate having time to think for too long. So they stick to the unhealthy patterns.
Jack teasing Robby about his blood-drinking. Like nudge nudge, "I heard the bagged shit tastes like crap." and "In the army I saw a guy collapse because he was too busy working himself to the bone to realise he hadn't eaten." and working up to "Y'know, if you ever need a friend to help you out..." He's a little, tiny bit obsessed with the idea of it. On the outside he looks like a war-torn old dog, but Robby knows he's just an excitable puppy really- once he sinks his teeth into an idea, he just won't let it go.
Robby ordering Jack to go home when he's working a shift way too close to the full moon. Jack getting pissy and confrontational about it, shoving and growling until Robby yanks him away into a spare room and gives him a very, very specific brand of hard look.
An emergency on shift leading to day shift working overtime. Robby doesn't even realise how hungry he is until he's grabbing Abbot by the arm and pushing him into the supply closet, quiet and demanding- all instinct driven and starving. Jack blushing and remembering all those times he gave his explicit permission for this to happen, all those times Robby rolled his eyes and turned him down with a grin. All that now coming to a head with Jack's throat on display, Robby pressing his thumb against the pulse-point then leaning forwards to breathe over it before he bites down. Jack trying not to make too much sound and not to pop a boner against his friend's hip. Walking out after an embarrassed Robby with a hickey screaming out for attention on his pale neck, two pin pricks pointing to the culprit.
i saw your post regarding priest!robby AUs and i was curious about the part about giving him horns and making him a vampire
i never heard that that imagery was offensive towards other religous minorities(or jewish ppl specifically) so i'd really like if you could go more in depth about that topic
i think it'd be very educational, especially for writers who don't want to offend anyone
First off, thank you so much for asking. I really appreciate you reading my post and wanting to know more. I've been really touched by how people have responded to my post. So many people have been so thoughtful and compassionate.
Western culture has an ancient tradition of depicting Jews as horned demons and as monsters who drink blood. Does this mean every devil or vampire is intentionally depicting a Jew? No. Unfortunately the problem is more complicated. It's like how animalistic, dark monsters (especially ones sexually threatening white women) aren't necessarily "intended" to depict black men, but the imagery is directly related to depictions of black people and what white people believe about them (1, 2). The visual language of our culture says minorities look like these monsters and that monsters look like these minorities. It's mutually reinforcing.
The classic racist imagery of Jews is that we’re demonic, bloodthirsty, and blood-sucking:

Horns
Jews have been associated with devils and depicted as devil-like throughout history. The New Testament refers to Jews who don't accept Jesus as the “synagogue of Satan” (Revelations 2:9, 3:9). Depictions of devils look like racist caricatures of Jews, racist caricatures of Jews look like devils: horns, hooked noses, evil expressions, scraggly beards, and (historically, usually; currently, among white supremacists) dark/sallow skin. Much of this has to do with bad translations of the Bible contributing to Moses being depicted with horns, fusing with depictions of Satan borrowing from the pagan god Pan. The shooter at the Pittsburgh synagogue The Tree of Life, referenced in Season 2 Episode 3, specifically said "Jews are the children of Satan" on his blog.
And people take the Satanic imagery literally.
These are just two interviews, but there are modern people who still think Jews actually have horns:
I had a friend, Carol Beck, who - when she found out I was Jewish, said to me, ‘You can't be Jewish. You don't have horns.’ I said, ‘What?’ And she said, ‘I was told that all Jews have horns.’ I said, ‘No. I'm a Jew. I don't have horns. Nobody I know has horns.’ (source)
So please, do not depict Jews with horns.
Vampires
This requires some background on why Jews are associated with being bloodthirsty and "blood suckers." It goes back a long way.
Many Christians to this day believe that the Jews killed Jesus, who is the archetypal innocent in Christianity. Because consuming the blood of Jesus is part of the good ritual of the Eucharist in Good Religion, Christianity, Christians imagined that there must be a parallel bad ritual in the Bad Religion, Judaism. These ideas fused in the "blood libel": the belief that Jews deliberately, often ritually, murder innocents. Over and over throughout history, blood libel accusations have broken out, leading to torture (to extract "confessions") and mass murder of Jewish communities.
The story usually says that Jews then consume the blood or even body parts of ritually murdered children, sometimes baking blood into matzah for Passover (nvm that Jews are forbidden to eat blood! "kosher salt" is called that because it's used in the koshering process that removes blood from meat, rendering the meat kosher). Added to this is the idea that Jews are essentially an invasive parasite, greedily leeching off of society as part of the Jewish agenda to destroy all that is good.
So some people believe Jews are literally blood-drinkers; some people believe Jews are metaphorically blood-suckers. The core image is consistent, either way. The depiction of Jews as vampires in modern antisemitic imagery was and is widespread among racists. The 1922 movie Nosferatu (see middle image above) in particular is a good example of the imagery of the Jew directly showing up as vampiric. This is a terrific article about it.
This isn't to say you couldn't do a depiction of a Jew as a vampire thoughtfully, without evoking antisemitic canards. But, like I said in my original post, you'd want to proceed with the same caution with which you'd be depicting any minority in a way that goes with the grain of racist caricature, rather than against it. But going against it is the safer bet. Bringing up how black people are caricatured again, the contrast is between the animalistic, atavistic way black people have been depicted in racist images vs. the cool, suave black vampires in movies like Blacula and Blade. The parallel move for Jewish monsters would be to lean into more macho monsters (especially since Jewish men are often caricatured as weak, sly, and effeminate). We're not a monolith, but a lot of Jews in my notes are fans of werewolf!Robby.

you know how vampire bats exchange blood to form social bonds?
I'm very torn between two ideas from this;
1.) Very hot and sexy, Robby getting a mouthful of blood and kissing Dennis, letting him lick into his mouth and whine and squirm in his lap when Robby doesn't have anymore, and has to soothe Dennis as he gets another. It's his favorite way to feed- no biting (so he isn't hurting his sire), all nice and close and gets some lovely kisses (and sometimes orgasms) out of it.
or,
2.) "No Dennis, that's your blood- yes, thank you sweetheart but I'm full, how about you drink that?" and Robby having to gently force Dennis to drink the blood instead of trying to share it with Robby and end up with half of it dribbled down his front.
I am fucking obsessed with vampire robby and warewolf abbot and now I can't fucking stop thinking about them as they navigate their lives in the er. Imagin that they fuck each other on the kitchen table cause abbot has oversensitive ears and robby touched them too hard so now abbot is fucking him like a breading kink on the kitchen table . The other times when abbot is not overstimulates , robby find him either in mens washroom or at home where he drinks his blood and probably tells him that he needs more vitamins .
What if Robby and the night shift were supernatural so that not only humans got care but also downworlders and Dennis got injured in an attack and to save his live Robby changed him into a vampire

When they finally get together and Jack's in the men's room just minding his own business, taking a minute, splashing some water on his face- Robby comes in after him. Jack can't see him in the mirror, but he knows it's Robby from the scent and the sound of his steady breathing.
Vampire!Robby deciding to let loose for once in his life and give Jack what he demands so much when they're on and off the clock- it's the end of the day shift anyway, so he won't have to deal with the consequences for at least a little while. Forcing Abbot to keep facing the mirror while he messes him up, grabbing at his hips none too gently and sinking his teeth into the side of his throat, stopping just before they pierce skin. His hands run wild, pulling up Jack's shirt and scraping the lengths of his toned stomach, dipping below the waistband of his scrubs, following down the v-line to find his prize.
When Jack's heavy breathing and quiet whines start sounding a little too desperate, Robby pulls him in for a kiss. It's fast and dirty and full of promises for later, but for now, Robby grips Jack's jaw and turns him back towards the mirror, where still he can only see himself. Then, with one last smug, gritty chuckle, Robby's gone. Leaving him alone to deal with the aftermath. Hot under the collar with blooming red marks on one side of his neck and hand shaped bruises probably forming on his waist.
Werewolf!Jack and Vampire!Robby using their enhanced senses to listen to each other's heartbeats and breathing and blood flow- telling themselves they're just checking in on their friend.. ignoring the fact that they never concentrate on anyone else even half as hard unless it's a patient who needs their full attention.
Abbot is the only one with the enhanced sense of smell though, which is usually hell in the ER, but it's easier when he focuses on finding Robby's windswept-blood stained-pine shower gel- kind of scent.
