this is mostly what i was expecting!
if the author did not want to do research on sports in a book about sports it does not surprise me that she didn’t feel like doing research on mental health conditions / psychotic disorders / different kinds of medications / all of that. which isn’t really a dig so much as an observation. there of course can be reality-grounded narratives written about meds/psych issues that don’t ever mention a psych diagnosis or exact medication but thus far this series is...... not one of them skdfjk
i’ll probably continue making real-world connections throughout the next two books like i did in this one tho, bc this is an area in which i actually do have a fair bit of background. i have zero expectations that canon is going to treat andrew minyard’s mental health in a way i personally find realistic But i Do see many many many seeds in the kid i can project various neurodivergent shit onto
