Killing Vampires with vibrations & worms: Some of the most interesting parts of vampire lore have been lost to the meandering nature of folklore, but when it comes to vampyr, my favorite forgotten ritual has to do with magically calling up worms to eat evil corpses... this tradition is nearly completely missing from modern vampire lore. A stake in the chest of a suspected vampire was not just used to pin the creature to the ground, but additional, it was used to vibrate the ground and call up worms to feast. The idea of vibrations and hammering away vampires then moved into a portable version that Romanian priests would vibrate to ward off vampirism, under the threat of hungry worms, eager for a snack... The practice of using a wooden stake to call up worms from the earth was nearly lost to history, but survived due to Anglo-Scottish & Western European setters into the American Appalachian mountains, who still use "worm grunting" as a means to harvest worms to this day. #babettebombshell #forgottenhistory #vampires #vampirehunters #vampirehunting #superstition #exorcists #wormgrunting #themoreyouknow https://www.instagram.com/p/BpXN9qWFwVj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=euivb5lpvb5a
