Currently Reading
Currently reading the fourth book in the Kiera Hudson series. I am Going, to be honest, that wasn’t meant to happen I was really only meant to read to the end of the third book. Then I was going to read The Girl on The Train and do a review on that. But nope Tim O'Rourke had to make this series so addicting and leave the third book on such a cliffhanger I had literally no excuse but to read the fourth.
Vampire Shift Book One - Review
Vampire Shift wrote by Tim O’Rourke, is my first Tim O’Rourke purchase. For this being my first time reading one of his books, I have to say this book left me wanting more. The story starts with a young woman named Kiera Hudson volunteering for a case in a small village in the English Countryside. She had just recently left the Police Academy, when news came in that another Police Officer that had been on a case in a village that goes by the name The Ragged Cove has gone missing, without a trace. In the village, there have been many murders and disappearances over the years which has frightened tourists away from the village. A village that once used to be full of tourists by their vampire legends has now become deserted, with many shops left close during both day and night. Kiera Hudson makes her way to The Ragged Cove, she arrives in the small town and finds herself at the Police Station 12 hours before she starts her first “Vampire Shift” when entering the station she meets Three men going by the name’s Murphy, Potter and Luke Bishop. Murphy being an older man with a limp that can be quite intimidating, Potter a very handsome man, who smokes regularly, and innocent Luke Bishop with a handsome face and charming smile and personality. During Kiera’s meeting with her three new colleagues, a call is brought in about a body of a young boy being found. Whilst investigating the body of the young boy is when this book really brings you in and it really gives you this urge to know more and more about Kiera Hudson. When you discover about her special and rather interesting gift, like any other police officer/detective she has a really good eye when it comes to spotting clues to solving even the hardest of cases. But Kiera Hudson’s gift is far more than that, she can see almost everything that others can’t, she can spot event the smallest of details, the amount of people at the scene around the time the boy was killed, how tall each of them were, their hair colour and that one of them was smoking.
But one thing stumps Kiera and that is, that there are three pairs of footprints around the body, but it’s a muddy field. A field that definitely would have left tracks when entering and leaving the scene. But there wasn’t any, just three pairs of footprints around a body, with no evidence of how they left the scene. Almost as if they disappeared into thin air.
As time passes in The Ragged Cove Kiera discovers that she is being followed by a hooded figure, who seems to be protecting her. He/her leaves a sealed envelope by her bedroom door, inside it contains a crucifix almost identical to the many that are hung up in the entrance to the Inn she was currently staying at. More time passes and body’s begin to vanish from graves, what shocks Kiera the most is that the coffin in which the body was once in, had scratch marks covering the inside almost as if someone had been buried alive and was trying to break free. This book brings you further and further in as the story continues, it challenges your brain and as Kiera tries to discover these mysteries she takes you along with her.
This book is thrilling yet exciting, and you learn more about Kiera the further you read, with her tragic backstory connecting to her current position. Kieran Hudson fights for her life in this extremely jaw-dropping book. This book made my eyes widen in shock many times and makes me want to instantly know the more I read, the question that Kiera Hudson herself is asking, what is going on in The Ragged Cove?
And then again work as usual #midnightshift #lifeinacallcentre #vampireshift #blackandwhite #snäpchat #snapchats #snapchatfilters #likesforlikes #like4like #follows #followback #30likes 📷💓
