they call me... MISTER ho.
Book 22 of the 50 book challenge. Too young to escape by Van Ho and Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch. Van Ho was 4 when her mom, 2 older sisters and older brother escaped Vietnam in 1981. This was her story of living in Saigon, with her grandmother, Aunt and Uncle who took care of her. Her father and oldest sister escaped in 1980. She was 8 when, she and her grandmother were sponsored to come to Canada by her parents. It’s a good book.
Located in the Vân Hồ district of the Sơn La province in Northern Vietnam, the Vân Hồ Ecolodge is a beautiful spot with private cabins and a view that will make you want to stay in bed for perhaps a little too long. Although we didn't stay for an extended visit, I'm glad we were able to spend a night, especially considering how rare travel is for the rest of the world during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Needless to say, if you ever do get a chance to visit the Vân Hồ area, I recommend staying at the Vân Hồ Ecolodge, and perhaps even exploring the paths around the property. Although I should warn you that you might get muddy if you get stuck in the rice fields like we did!
