Hi, happy STS!! I'm making myself a tea and looking outside at the snow, happy that I have my blanket. This made me wonder: what warm drinks are common in your universe and/or what do your OCs like to drink during the cold season?
Hmmm... I'm gonna answer this for my vampire story, The Odyssey of Sohelia Yazdani.
So, naturally, the "warm drink" a vampire would favor would be human blood. However, they can consume normal food and beverages, it just wouldn't provide nourishment for them.
Sohelia, the main character, a dhampyr monster hunter, likes to drink a large mug of steaming hot black coffee with molasses stirred in. She claims that the iron content helps with her bloodlust.
Matt, her fully mortal best friend, prefers warm green tea. The caffeine content is low enough he can drink it any time of day without messing up his sleep schedule.
Dolores, Matt's vampire girlfriend, drinks black coffee solely out of habit. Her parents would give it to her every morning growing up, back when they were alive.
Vanessa, Sohelia's former mortal roommate, likes hot cocoa, extra sweet, with lots of mini marshmallows. It's especially good if you steep a peppermint tea bag in it.
Victorie, Vanessa's vampire girlfriend, doesn't really drink hot beverages. She's been isolated from society for the last 400 or so years, and hasn't drunken anything other than water and blood since then.
