What we feel directly effects what we see. Although we may look at the same scene, the same piece of landscape and stand in the same place, at possibly even the same time of year...what we see is always different. Not just because the land is always changing, but because I am different than I was. It could be a few small experiences that have brought me to the current place, or it might be a few monumental life changes. Either way, I stand under this star filled sky and gaze upon this moonlit mountain, in a way I haven't before. On this night I was letting go of a deep anger I was holding onto, one where I felt I was wronged and needed to get the other person to see my perspective. It's kind if funny though, standing before a scene as grand as this, I realized perhaps the lesson was not mine to teach and all I had to do to make things better was let go and forgive. With the warm spring temperatures and the ski resorts closing, my mind shifts to nights spent under the summer sky. Creatively speaking, one of my goals for this years milky way season, is to capture more foregrounds in my astro shots. Honestly, it is easy to get sidetracked by how cool the night sky looks when you get those perfect conditions, that I forget my favorite types of astro photos include a foreground element. It could be a silhouette, a valley, a mountain, or a tree. It just adds that much more to an image.
