Language nerdery FTW
Stubborn curiosity and a spark of mania had me furiously attempting to translate an obscure vulcan phrase in an episode of Enterprise. I got out a pencil and paper, scribbling notes and thoughts while combing the web and fanmade dictionaries. (I need to get a proper guide on grammar and syntax in Vulkhansu...) I was on the right track, properly hopping between audio and text to tease apart the words, until I stumbled upon a previous Trekkie translation. Even then, there are two possible phrasings.(For those who are curious, it's Vanik's line "Shan sha'tuhllar ak ko-mos/ko-mesh." from Breaking the Ice. Translations are "Transfer yourself, you weak woman." and "Transfer yourself or you'll soon be a shamed woman." respectively.)On a related note, my chicken scratch pennmanship is even worse when going at it super fast. Ten bucks says even I won't be able to read my notes tomorrow...
