There is no fixed thing. The problem is that the music industry tends to fix people and because they can't seem to fix me, they project on me. Instead of accepting what it is.

Projections on to things are much bigger than the things themselves. What they've always wanted to project about the music business is that it's really wonderful, or that it's about the drugs or it's about something else other than the actual music.

They say, Well, we're doing this, so he should be doing this, like, say, making videos. For me, making a video doesn't fit into my scheme of things. They want me to be the same as everybody else and make a video. But you see, everyone isn't the same. And when I came into the music business, it was exactly the same - they wanted everyone to be the same. At that time, you had to look a certain way, play a certain way, everything. And that has not changed. They expect everyone to be the same way, when everyone isn't the same way.

I came out of those people that were non-conformists in the first place. You can't change me, and I'm not going to change to fit it. That's the equation: I'm still me and it's still it.

That's one of my big lessons in life, is don't buy bullshit and don't pay lip-service to it.
