Retort came swift and carried a hint of petulance, scowl forming swiftly from the lack of gratitude in the young one. Perhaps it had been unwise, and too brash, to act on his instinct in a world that was far from his own, still all-too unfamiliar with many strange customs he had no understanding of, but he could not imagine any world where such acts against children would be acceptable. Then again, there were countless, numerous worlds, one more strange than the other...

"You do not pray?" Bain asks, rather curious and well, bored, to see his brother-in-law here and not with his sister, nor his wife.

Caught deep in his own thoughts Wilhelm is rather surprised at hearing Bain’s voice. “No -”, he replies eventually and just for a moment considers to leave it at that. But a srange intuition makes him open his mouth again and continue. Perhaps because Bain too isn’t with the others, perhaps because he rarely speaks about that topic. “I have stopped praying a long time ago actually. When my mother died and my father fully revealed his true nature. I was young and I couldn’t believe in someone, who let her suffer, who made all of this happen. And in the many fights we’ve witnessed the last childish trust in such a higher powers disappeared rather quickly.” A joyless laughter,before his face turns directly towards his king and brother-in-law. “What about you? I’ve never seen you pray.”
