NAME: Ancestra "Anise" Alexandrite

THINGS TO KNOW: People tend to get her name wrong... a lot. Nothing seems to make her name stick! She's worn a name tag, had it sewn onto her clothes, nothing. It frustrates her endlessly, and she has tried to make people remember her, but they seem to look over her. The only person who seems to know she’s there at all is her twin brother.

At her job as a librarian-in-training/intern, she has to wear a bell, since she has, more often than not, been left behind and locked in the library at night, and has startled a lot of people.

☾ - sleep headcanon Anestra is a textbook example of an insomniac. Sleep does not really come easy to her, since most of the time she is on her guard or absorbed in something. But since she rescued her cat and loyal companion Sunshine, sleep does come easier to her, mostly due to Sunshine climbing onto her chest and purring away once she does settle into bed, which near instantly knocks Anestra out. It doesn't help that Sunshine utilizes the same method to wake her up, which only puts Anestra back to sleep. ★ - sad headcanon Anestra never really knew her mother, only testimonials about her. When she was young she remembers feeling that she should be grateful, at least she still has her father and twin, some of her peers didn't even have parents or siblings anymore, after the Scourge came and decimated ninety percent of Quel'thalas. The only "proof" she has of her existence is an intricate vial looking vial made to look like a locket around her neck, holding some of the Sunwell. Sure, Anestra can draw upon its power anytime she'd like, but she's petrified of destroying it by accident, so it's really only for appearance as a good luck charm, though she has used its magic before in an emergency. ☆ - happy headcanon

Anestra has a big heart, especially for cats, but for others too. When someone is upset she will try to cheer them up, and works hard to make things easier for someone, even if she just met them. She just has a knack for understanding people, for looking past the mask they wear and seeing who they truly are underneath. Her intuition is quite good!

Anestra’s Goggles

By default, these goggles can absolutely see ghosts. That is not what is so important about them. Whatever color the lenses are, that means its especially picking up on the magic that matches said lens. 

Purple = arcane, void/shadow

Green = fel, blight

Yellow = light/holy

Orange = fire

Blue = ice

red = n/a, she’s not really sure why she has this lens color.

[ 🪁 ] does your muse have a special talent or hobby they devote themselves to? why is this talent or hobby important to them?

Before she had academia, scholarly pursuits, and mage training, Anestra was a singer. Sure, she was no musical prodigy, but she worked hard, and her efforts was noticed by her choir teacher, who enrolled her in a singing contest... one that she placed in, and was given a ribbon! However, soon after that she stopped showing up to choir rehearsals, and stopped singing all together. It was like she never sang at all, and any attempts on why she left wouldn't get an answer. If you asked her about it now she would look at you like you were crazy. Her, sing? Don't be silly, she can't carry a tune to save her life. She is a scholar, so why would she get on a stage to perform?

Anestra can see ghosts. It is not due to an innate gift, but more like a side effect of her research into undeath and residence in the haunted Ghostlands. However, instead of reacting violently to them, she prefers to try and sit down and speak to them, even if they try to attack her. In fact, most of the people she speaks to are usually ghosts, and overtime she has interacted more with the dead than the living, so she tends to feel more comfortable with ghosts than actual, living breathing people.

To her, the tortured souls are far more straightforward than the living, because at least she knows what they want. The living? Not so much...

Though it isn't obvious when one looks at her, Anestra is pretty strong. Her bag is extremely heavy, and if anyone else lifts it, chances are they're going to have a pulled muscle. Her notebook is also pretty hefty, and could easily kill someone, or at least send them flying if used to hit someone.

However, good luck with touching it, as it is enchanted to shock anyone who isn't Anestra, or unless she's given them permission to touch it.

Anestra’s research seeks to answer one thing: is there a link between the Burning Legion and the Scourge? Does fel magic and necromancy have any similarities? Both fields of study and inquiries are frowned upon by the Kirin Tor, however, due to Anestra’s academic excellence (and her overall very straightforward nature), her teachers decided to quietly permit her freedom to explore these topics, and so let the librarians know as well. Though, she didn’t really think much of it, she just thought the library read her mind and knew exactly what books she wanted.
