After getting Falkor built out with a high top and Subaru engine the first adventure we took him on was to Big Bend National Park. We spent two days on the dirt roads exploring that amazing place. Been in Austin Tx since Friday and we've cleared out almost 15years worth of junk we haven't thought about since we threw it in storage 2yrs ago. It has literally taken 4 full days of working in that storage unit to go through everything and post 95% of it for sale, and we still have more to go. Each thing I look through in those boxes is a memory. The orange serving dish, the African sculptures, the vintage camera collection, the desks, the books, the metal dove for opening bottles. Each of those have stories behind them, things we remember about our things. So, no...this isn't some anti-consumption #optoutside, experiences-over-things folksy wisdom pontification. For a long time that stuff we owned was fulfilling and then we changed, we moved laterally, we decided on a different lifestyle. #Vanlife is fulfilling in a number of other ways and we're glad to be living it. But it bears repeating that we are as fulfilled now with less than we were with more...and in some ways we're more fulfilled due to the fact that we've grown up quite a lot since then. That doesn't mean more is less fulfilling...it just means we changed our perspective. It means we've changed in such a way that different things have meaning now.
