Marya is the town psychic, but mostly ends up serving as the towns therapist. Maybe lacking in the ethics, though. She’s in on all the hot gossip!

Herge and Odette are fancy rats! They’re city dwellers originally and their father is the mayor of River’s Eddy, mayor Wilhelm. Odette is polite and well liked, but rather mysterious. Herge has a future in politics and secretly writes terrible poetry. He’s best friends with Carlisle.

Traditional Harpooning in Seychelles - The Creole Melting Pot

Harpooning, or vare in creole, is one of the traditional fishing methods that used to be very popular in Seychelles until around the 1960’s

In 2023, it was easy to spot harpooners in the southern part of Mahé in the mornings.

Anyway, here goes today's curry...

Onion, garlic, ginger and spices on butter.. (star anise, curry leaf, fennel, cloves, cinnamon bark, peppercorns, macis...) I've added local powder with turmeric content, just for a bit more color.

+ Bottle gourd and graffiti eggplant, cubed. The eggplant will cook fast and make the curry thick. Like my latinas.

+ Dried bilimbi and some cubed fish filet.
