I voice Seyren, Varmundt, Hugin, and more in Ragnarok Origin coming to iOS and Android this fall

Episode 17.2 opened up cans of worms in regards to the -possible- connection between these two seemingly unrelated individuals:

It wasn’t obvious at first because the two are drawn by different artists and that adult Varmundt squints his eyes all the time. But when their respective artists drew each other’s character for this update, their physical resemblances became clear.

At this point, it’s either:

- Oliver is a clone of Varmundt made by Rekenber (we know Oliver is a product of a Rekenber experiment but Zhid never told us the specifics).

- Oliver is Varmundt after using age regression and memory wipe magic on himself.

- Both, because those two possibilities are not mutually exclusive.

According to Sigma (the administrator AI of Varmundt’s Mansion) in the Story Mode of Hidden Flower Garden instance, their master said that when he return, he might assume a different form. Hmmm.

Which reminds me, in Biographical Dictionary Copy Edition, it was said that Varmundt is also prolific in literature, art, and music. Since he was a famous individual, it’d be logical for him to have a pen name, no? Like, say, “Oliver Hilpert”?

Remember that at the end of Oliver Wolf Hood quest, Mark noted that the book that Oliver supposedly wrote, “The City of Fairies”, is quite old? In Silence in the Library quest, we see the individual on the fourth picture asking Tamarin (who dressed up as one of the maid automatons at the time) about that particular book. Which means that Varmundt owns the book...or perhaps, he wrote it himself and placed a copy of it inside his library?

Another thing that connects Varmundt and Oliver is their apparent connection to crows. We know Oliver wrote a novel titled “Crow of Fate”, he has a crow-themed pillow, and he is stalked by his adoptive mother who can turn into a crow. But what about Varmundt’s? Well, remember the guy who manages the original Old Glast Heim instance, and is fairly hostile towards Varmundt? Hugin, who is totally not named after one of Odin’s messenger crows in Norse mythology?

Oh, there’s also “The Traces of Fate”, the prequel of “Crow of Fate”. You know how in the transcript that we managed to read, the protagonist introduced himself as “Al”? Well, guess what’s Varmundt’s full name? Alfred Varmundt. Also, you know “Haeji”, the old man who saved “Al”, who was later revealed to be a retired professor from Juno? In Biographical Dictionary Copy Edition, it was said that Varmundt got into Juno National University under the personal recommendation of Professor Hedge, a retired professor from Juno.

We also have to consider that Oliver wrote his novels based on the dreams he had, hence his moniker “The Dreaming Novelist”. And that his books have power to literally suck the readers into the story. During Oliver Wolf Hood quest, he was surprised that Dew and his group can see him and blocked Alp’s memories of him until he disappeared. Sounds familiar? That’s how instances that take us into past events works. Add that he said “I thought this all just a dream. But since I can get hungry, I guess not...” upon disappearing....

Also, Zhid doesn’t know the name of the tube baby that Eva saved. He even speculated with the player that maybe Oliver is Eva’s “son”. Which means either Eva kept it a secret from everyone else, or that the kid never had a name until he ran away from the cave village. If you thoroughly explore the settlement, you can find a bedroom with a small bed, a set of chair and table, and two rows of book shelves as the deepest room in the map. Wanna bet that the kid took a certain book and named himself after the author of said book?
