Rosa may not be the best Bisexual rep out there, but she’s pretty fucking good. She’s played by a bisexual WoC, who brought her own personal experiences to the role. Her “Fantasizing about killing a prosecutor” was in Episode eight of Season One, back when they were still trying to get in touch with the characters. Also?? The whole damn point of that was to show that Diaz has anger issues, and knows how to keep it under control. It wasn’t a damn fantasy, she was using it so she didnt get angry. Y’all out here telling me you’ve never had someone get into your face an you didnt think about punching them?? Damn.
“No Proper LGB rep” My ass. Rosa, Bisexual and happy. Captain Holt, a gay man who was out and proud in the first damn episode. He and his husband Kevin have the best damn relationship in this show, they love and care for each other. Sure, they fight sometimes, but they work past it, like a damn couple. Each LGBT couple in this show is treated with the same amount of respect as the straight ones. Also I still stand that Jake is bi and you can pry that shit from my cold fucking fingers, you heathens.
“Diversity!!!” HAVE Y’ALL WATCHED THIS FUCKIN SHOW?? Out of the main 7, there are three white people. This show showcases Latina women, in the front and center. It tears down the “Angry black man” trope. The captain is a black gay man, who is proud of himself and his accomplishments. Of the three white people, one of them is Jewish, and another is a woman who doesn’t take anyones shit.
“No focus on Platonic Relationships!!” sigh. Even though people get together and break up, it is never the highlight of the show. Relationships take backseat to the friendship that each of them have with each other. Amy and Jake are the “Big Relationship” in this, and the show always showcases how Jake is still friends with everyone, still talks to them all, and how Amy still loves to hang out with her friends and talk with people. Yes, they are in a relationship. Just because they are, doesnt mean their personalities die. What is wrong with y’all.
TL;DR, Brooklynn Nine Nine was a wonderful show, and did not deserve to be cancelled. It called out people who say that cops are always the best, and it shows that cops can fuck up, and aren’t always right. It shows the lighter side to the police, without shitting on people who hate the police. It’s the perfect mix of comedy and reality. And it doesn’t deserve to have people shitting on it for no reason other than “Oh, it’s cop Propaganda!!!” Fuck off with that shit.
