I’m glad you like my Au! It really means a lot, Thank ya for the support!!! Now about your question, the brothers were in fact, not lying.  They care deeply for Sanji.

Though Judges experiment did make it through them, thus from a stroke of luck they ended up with only having the ability to feel  sympathy or empathy for each other.  (Though not as much as Sanji)
