DevOps for VMworld

VMworld time is almost here!  There’s a great deal going on at the show, but I wanted to share a few things that are happening specifically related to the DevOps for VMware book.

First and foremost if you haven’t already gathered, I was fortunate enough to collaborate and contribute on the recently released DevOps for VMware Administrators book.  This book was lead by Trevor Roberts, Jr and with great contributions from Egle Sigler and Yvo van Doorn.  The response to this book has been extremely positive.  Make sure you check out the available code samples from the book on GitHub.  The book provides context, the code saves you from typing. :-)

I’m excited that the four of us will be joined by VMware’s Chris Sexsmith for our panel session #INF5116 A Practical Introduction to DevOps for VMware Administrators.  It takes place on Wednesday afternoon at VMworld from 4-5:00pm.  I can’t think of a better way to end the day before heading out to the VMworld party.

That’s not going to be the only chance to see and meet the authors.  We’re also scheduling a book signing at the VMworld book store.  Looks like this will be taking place from 12-12:30pm on Tuesday.

If you’re interested in a condensed discussion on DevOps in VMware environments feel free to stop by the SolidFire booth at 11am on Wednesday for my lighting talk.  You’ll even have a chance to win some socks and other cool prizes like the SolidFire bike!

There’s also a good chance you’ll see some killer content, DevOps included, at the community stage where the vBrownBag crew will be producing lightning talks again this year. 

If your schedule doesn’t permit participating in any of the above, please feel free to join me and grab a pint at SolidFire’s Pursuit of Hoppiness party. It’s taking place at the ThirstyBear Brewery on Monday evening from 6-9pm.  Last year was a great event and I expect nothing less this year.  RSVP here since unlike the beer, space is limited.
