I honestly think this fandom has the best fan artists around. Sure other fandoms have great artists too but the VC fandom artists always make me feel things!!!!!

It's amazing to see so many different artistic styles across all different mediums in this fandom as well! I've legit cried to Devil's Minion art before, it's so moving.

gosh when i think about it, vc fandom really was a lot of my firsts: my very first time being active in a fandom and having a blog!!!! my first time writing fic ever!!!!! my first time going to new orleans which i have always wanted to go to since i was little and i finally got to go with a bunch of vc friends!!!!!!! MY VERY FIRST TIME BEING A PART OF A QUEER & ND COMMUNITY!!!!!!!!!!

and i’m so grateful for anne and her writing, and for all the lovely kind wonderful people here that i’ve had the privilege to know because of her ♥️

Aaaahhh that's AMAZING! That's what I've always loved about long-standing fandoms, that there are so many people stepping into the ecosystem and stepping out of their comfort zone just a little— whether that's starting a new blog and beginning to chat with strangers who then become friends, or beginning to write fic and grow in new creative directions!

I think the VC fandom in particular is a very interesting space where so many new people are welcomed by Fandom Olds

Thank you for creating this account! This was sorely needed in the climate the fandom currently is despite me not being here for long all.

I started reading the books last summer after my first contact with other VC related media, and while I'm not finished with all of them just yet, I certainly fell in love with the universe after finishing IWTV for the first time, and I'm certainly looking forward to finishing it, but even without finishing it, the books have sparked my interest in writing and made me decide that I might want to pursue journalism/history in the future afterall.

Maybe one day I'll get in the fandom proper, it has a learning curve but there are people like you and others here on Tumblr that make it less frightening than I initially thought.

This is so sweet, we're glad you're here in any capacity! Tumblr fandom in particular can definitely present a bit of a learning curve, but there are so many lovely people here that make it worthwhile imho. It's a unique ecosystem to be sure!

It sucks that the VC fandom in particular has such a crappy reputation that it would offput folks curious about joining, but I hope you enjoy the other books in the series! Feel free to report back here with more thoughts as you go along :)

i got into fandom because of the VC!! i discovered the concept of fanfiction through now-defunct VC websites in 8th grade and had my mind BLOWN by the concept of NEW STORIES about blorbo -- so really, every positive interaction, every long-term friendship, that fandom has given me (and there have been many over the years!), i owe to Anne and to VC.

Omg I LOVE this story! There's something so pure and exciting about that very first fanfic discovery when it just clicks that you can actually just play barbies with these characters in your mind.

And hearing about everyone's long-term fandom friendships has been so sweet! Fandom friendships are some of the best bonds ever.

Some of my fondest fandom memories have to do with the annual fandom holiday exchange! I still get giddy like a child on Christmas every year when I get to refresh the dash and just see a constant stream of fresh art and fic from my favorite people.

If you're referring to @vcsecretgifts then YES! I know it takes a lot of work to organize fandom events as well, so shout out to the folks who run this event, and everyone who participates and fills our community with love and holiday spirit 🥰

vcrp got me back into the habit of writing again after years of not doing it. Some people I wrote with have become lifelong friends and at least two of us are published authors now. None of it would have happened without Anne.

Yesssss VC RP! There are so many talented writers on this site and it's so cool to know Anne's work was the catalyst in some way. Congratulations to all the published authors who honed their skills in this fandom!
