Vector the Crocodile x Vanilla the Rabbit Drabble
“Uh, Mr. Espio?” Cream asked. “Are you sure you don’t need help with that?”
“I share Cream’s concern,” Gemerl added. “Based on the weight of snow compiled in your arms and your face exhibiting exhaustion, you seem to be struggling.”
Despite his legs shaking from the weight of the ball of snow, Espio shook his head. “I assure you; I can handle the weight of this-” The reptilian ninja was unable to finish his sentence however as the weight of the snow for the snowman overwhelmed him as he fell backward into the snow with him now trapped by the ball.
Cream, Cheese, and Gemerl walked toward the now partially buried chameleon with worries on their face. “Do you need help now?”
“….Yes please.” Espio said. As the young rabbit and chao began to swipe away the snow off Espio, their antics were overlooked by Vector and Vanilla from the latter home with the two sharing a chuckle over it.
“Seems like the three of them are having fun,” Vanilla remarked.
“Yeah, though Espio is probably going to ask Cream to not tell anyone what just happened. He wants to maintain his mysterious ninja persona. People knowing about this wouldn’t help that.”
Vanilla nodded her head in understanding as the two continued to watch the three antics, now with Cream and Espio helping lift the large snowball for the snowman. Yet Vector’s eyes couldn’t help but glance over to Vanilla and smile. “Uh, thanks again for inviting us over to spend Christmas with you and your family. You didn’t have to do that.”
“Don’t be ridiculous Vector, with everything the Chaotix have done for me and my daughter, you’re practically family.”
The reptilian detective’s brain couldn’t help but be taken aback by Vanilla’s words as his brain began to conjure what such a life would look like. Charmy and Cream put up a drawing of their new family on the fridge. Gemerl and Espio looked over information that they’d gathered to solve a case the two were working on. And all of them partaking in family dinners with Vector wearing a “Kiss the Chef” apron as everyone laughs over a joke he just made. The daydream filled his cheeks with warmth and put a smile on his face. “Th-thanks Vanilla. That means a lot.”
“Well, you mean a lot to me Vector,” Vanilla replied.
Vector gulped as he turned towards Vanilla. “R-really?”
Vanilla smiled. “Why of course.”
As the two gazed at each other, Vector felt his heart beating faster a million miles a minute and his lips suddenly feeling dry. He wanted nothing more than to shower Vanilla with compliments such as her warm nature and a giant heart. Yet before he could muster the courage to say any of those things, an all too familiar voice interrupted the moment.
“Hey, Vector! Lookie at what I have!” Charmy shouted playfully from up above the crocodile and rabbit heads.
Vector sighed over the young bee interrupting his moment with Vanilla as he shifted his attention to see what Charmy wanted to show him. However, his annoyance quickly turned to shock and embarrassment when he saw that the young bee was holding mistletoe as he hovered above them. Vanilla let out a soft chuckle over his antics, but Vector wasn’t amused in the slightest as he could feel his cheeks redden with warmth.
“Charmy! Would you stop messing around with that thing!” Vector shouted. He tried reaching for the mistletoe to snatch it out of Charmy’s hand, but he simply floated up higher to stay out of Vector’s reach and chuckled more.
“Nu-uh” Charmy replied. “You know the rules of the mistletoe. Now you two got to kiss!”
While the childish bee continued to chuckle over his antics, Vector felt his embarrassment and annoyance rising. Yet before he could let out a triad of shouts, he was shocked when he felt a gentle warmth on his cheek. He turned slack-jawed towards Vanilla who smiled warmly at the Chaotix leader.
“Well, it is a Christmas tradition,” Vanilla said. “Now how about I go ahead and prepare some plates that you all can take home later?
Jaw still dropped and brain still processing what just happened, Vector let out a sound that must have sounded like a yes since Vanilla happily nodded and walked towards the kitchen. Though even once she was out of sight, the reptilian detective’s face was still frozen with Charmy floating down next to him with a cheeky grin on his face.
“I hope you enjoyed my Christmas present Vector.”
vector and vanilla are one of the best sonic the hedgehog ships in my personal opinion.
