HGBD:R 1/144 Planets System PFF-X7 "Core Gundam" [G3 Colour] + Planets System Armour Unit PFF-X7/V2 "Veetwo Gundam"
Veetwo is here! Veetwo is the ranged counterpart to the Marsfour (which I built earlier), and the last Planets System kit that comes with a recoloured Core Gundam, this time rendered in one of the proposed G3 colour schemes. Whereas the Marsfour focuses on spiky details and comes with flip-out claws on the arms, the Veetwo focuses on ranged weaponry, with large dual missile pods on the arms and smaller flip-out ones hidden on the legs. Just like the Marsfour, the Veetwo also lacks the complete set of weapons, which are only available as a separate upgrade kit.
I didn't really do anything special to prep the kit this time. It's a simple liquid panel lining (although I ran out of enamel thinner by the final runner and had to use WD40), with a silver drybrush and silver pigment powder on the lighter grey C-runner/frame parts and my standard metallic weathering for the darker grey parts. The armour parts got a more satin matte, whereas the rest is just Mr Super Clear Matt.
The little Core Gundam is identical to the one included in the Earthree and Marsfour, and is just as fun to pose. There's the standard miniature shield and small beam rifle from the C-runner, and two smaller beam saber effects, this time in a really nice fluorescent UV-reactive trans-green, which contrasts nicely with the dark purple of the G3 colour scheme.
I had a lot of fun getting this model into some more dynamic poses with my new lightbox, although I felt that the hands were a little weak and came apart way more easily than I expected. I don't know if this is just a natural inconsistency with the parts fitment as I didn't have this issue with Marsfour or Earthree.
The armour carrier system is identical to Earthree and Marsfour as well, although it's super cool that the position of the arm missile pods is also functional in the stowed mode for the Venus armour.
Veetwo is a much better armour set than the Marsfour when lacking its weapon upgrade kit. While Marsfour looks a little incomplete without its weapons, Veetwo's missile pods make it look properly complete. Veetwo also stands out due to its upgrade V-fin being a single antenna with an auxillary camera, giving it the feel of a sniper unit.
I love the kit when posed with all its missile ports open, although you can really tell that it'd look a lot better with all its proper weapons.
I might come back to these two kits if I can ever find their weapon sets in store, however that's all of the full inner planets kits done for now. I'll probably take a break from the Core System kits for a little while, as they do all share essentially the same base parts and it can get tedious to build them back-to-back.
Hopefully soon I can get some time to do Master Grade kits again!
