This vegan version of the Big Mac has all the same great flavors. These burgers are full of healthy plant-based foods and come with a special sauce that will make you happy.

Ingredients: 2 vegan burger patties. 4 vegan burger buns. 1/2 cup vegan mayonnaise. 2 tbsp pickle relish. 1 tbsp yellow mustard. 1 tbsp white vinegar. 1 tsp garlic powder. 1 tsp onion powder. 1/2 tsp paprika. 1/2 cup shredded lettuce. 1/2 cup diced onions. 1/2 cup sliced pickles. 4 slices vegan cheese.

Instructions: Prepare the vegan burger patties according to package instructions. In a small bowl, mix together the vegan mayonnaise, pickle relish, mustard, white vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to make the special sauce. Toast the burger buns in a toaster or on a skillet until lightly browned. Spread the special sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a vegan burger patty on each bun, followed by a slice of vegan cheese. Top each patty with shredded lettuce, diced onions, and sliced pickles. Place the top half of the bun on each burger to complete the assembly.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Vegan Big Macs

So, I recently got into a discussion online regarding plant based or vegan people eating things the resemble the animals they are refusing to eat. After that discussion, it happened again a few days later. So maybe I should put this out into the broader universe. Because there has got to be AT LEAST a thousand people reading this blog.

The reason I (as an almost 20 year vegetarian and more recent plant based person) sometimes eating things like veggie burgers, vegan shepherds pie, or even vegan 'meatballs', is because we were all raised in a place where we didn't cook for at least the first few years of life. So sometimes we all need to go back to those things from childhood. Just because we don't want to eat animals, doesn't mean we only want to eat kale or lentils all the time.

I do think that eating mock foods made out of processed ingredients, whether it be animals or not, is not very healthy. Even these comfort foods we crave can be made plant based, whole foods with a little creativity.

Yes, this glorious vegan Big Mac from Doomies was super unhealthy, but it was also a pretty amazing treat, since I hadn't had one in decades.
