In our sport we have typically trained our bodies to manage consistent sustained efforts over long periods of time. More than 5 minutes at least. In an NPFL race however, the rate at which the athlete can complete a few reps takes precedence. With today's home cooking I am practicing two things. 1. Transitioning to an overhead squat position can be tricky when taking the bar from the ground. The fastest way to accomplish this is snatching the bar into position. This method can be unreliable if the athlete is fatigued. A wide grip clean and squat jerk seems to be fast and reliable. I'm using 185#. 2. One thing I've noticed with multiple box jump overs at heights of 30+ inches is that athletes can not rebound. They have to reset their feet before each jump. If an attempt to rebound is made there is the heightened danger of lower leg injury. Here I'm attempting to cycle 30" box jump overs with a step down. I've discovered they are actually faster than jumping down and resetting. Finding ways to move quickly is the name of the game. #blackstarsc @npfl #npfl #fitness #mastersweightlifting #mastersathlete #fitover40 #boxjumps #weightlifting #homegym #garagegym #oldmanstrength #oldmanskills #gridracing #npfldraft #vegascombine #fitness #grind #muscle #strength #fitspo #instafit (at BlackStar HQ)
