Diego is having an okay time strolling through the pueblo, happy to destress after another night of Zorro caprioles to save a young boy who had gotten awfully self assured and tried to attack the captain in his sleep - it wasn't even that rare, youngsters taking their fate into their own hands.
It was a sunny day, and Diego relished in the warmth of it, nearing the garrison. He was even in such a good mood he considered paying a visit to the commandante, but it seemed he was busy ordering his men around on the square for some kind of plan.
His curiosity peaked, he stopped to observe, only to see in the alley that faced them that same boy. The young man went pale at the view of the captain, but the alley was a dead end and Diego could see him hesitate before making the bet and nearing the comandante who thankfully was not turned towards him.
However, according to the pattern Diego had observed, he soon would. He handed Bernardo his walking stick, and walked to the captain as fast as he realistically could - if he could distract the man just for a second he would succeed and let the young man escape.
However, the distance was far, more than could be travelled in those small seconds and the comandante was nearing that vital point were he would turn around and stare his attacker right in the face - and Diego knew he could not vouch for the boys safety if that happened.
"Señor comandante-" He started to call, but the comandante had already started his movement and there was only one way the stop it.
He shifted his foot, making it look like he was tripping over a non-existing stone, and collapsed into the comandante, knocking them both onto the hard ground.
Monastario makes an 'oomf' sound, and then groans with impact of his body meeting the hard ground and Diego's heavy body falling on top of his. Diego gasps too, mostly for show, and does not move until Enrique turns to him with a glare that could kill lesser men.
"De la vega! que demonios!"
"Ah! I'm so sorry comandante! I cant believe i tripped! There must have been a rock or-"
Enrique groans, rubbing his head. "De la vega..."
But diego does not get off, half slumped over the poor captain. "Did you hit your head??" He asks with wide eyes - technically not all of his concern is an act. In the rush of events, he may have used a little too much force, and it was never his intention to hurt monastario. too bad... "Is it bleeding? are you dizzy? Let me look at it-" He reaches for monastarios curls, but the man slaps his hand away with a scowl.
"Im fine! Dont touch me!"
"I just wanted to see if you were alright-" Diego says, but he can tell the mans not bleeding, and if he has enough presence of mind to get mad at diego then its probably not too bad. Hes seen people get concussions before, even had a couple of his own. Risk of the job. "Are you sure you dont feel light headed?"
"Santa maria, im fine!" Enriques ears went a little red at the attention though. Or maybe it was because everyone was staring at them. Hard to tell. "Will you get off me??!"
"Oh, im so sorry comandante! I completely forgot! Here, let me-" He feigned to try and get up, but his hand 'slipped' and he fell forward, bumping his face into the comandantes chest and knocking them both down again. "Oh dios!"
"De la vega!!!" Monastario roared.
"oh please forgive me comandante, im so sorry, did i hurt you again? i didnt do it on purpose, im so sorry"
"i know you didnt, just, will you please get off me already?!" it wasnt that enrique was angry as much that he was starting to get a little problem in such a close proximity to de la vega. His attraction to the man was a curse, but he smelled so nice and was just so delightfully exactly his type that enrique couldnt help it. except that now, it was not doing him any favours. at all.
Instead of getting off, Don Diego kept wiggling and struggling, trying to get up but ultimately remaining right where he was. which was sitting in enriques lap. in the middle of the square. right on his ever growing problem.
Embarassment rising, enrique was starting to get a little desperate. He did not want to lose face in front of the pueblo, and even less so in front of diego - he was the only one in the pueblo who even vaguely respected him and appreciated his skill. He would certainly be shocked and appalled if he were to see...
"Please, de la vega-" Enrique tried to push him off, but Diego moved just so that his ass brushed against his lap in a way that made him freeze, just barely biting back a gasp.
"Im sorry, im sorry." De la vega laughed as if it was funny. "Perhaps im the one who has a concussion after all... im feeling a little dizzy"
"yes, well i can take you to a doctor if you will just get off me-"
In truth, diego knew the window of opportunity for escape had been long enough already for the boy to escape, and there was no reason to stretch this moment any longer, but the captains obvious arousal and discomfort were giving him an addicting rush, much like he got when he beat him with the sword.
just that. nothing more...
"yes, i will get off you now, im really so sorry comandante! how can i make it up to you??" he said, sitting up.
Enrique stared at him as if he had lost his mind sitting there in the mans lap. "by! Getting of my lap!" He cried, and diego at last realized the situation was no longer tenable, not in the least because he was also soon to have a likewise problem like the comandante.
"Oh! Yes of course. my, im really out of it today."
He finally got up, trying to straighten his suit and brush off the dust before offering the captain his hand, which was resolutely ignored. The captain was bright red, almost as red as the details on his uniform, and he looked altogether very ruffled and excited. It was a pleasant sight, and Diego did not haste to let himself be carried away to a doctor by a rattled comandante, who grabbed him by his arm in such an iron grip he could not have disobeyed him even if he wanted to.
deep down, he felt only pleased though, that he could so easily influence the headstrong comandante and reduce him to a mess without even a sword in his hand. Perhaps it wasnt right to treat the man like his little plaything, but it made them quitte. and in the end, he was sure enrique didn't mind that much either.

@profsigerson thank you for the prompt! :3
"I would kiss you if you asked." Zorro says, already halfway across the office. But Enrique is fast.
Stomping his foot down onto the ground, he catches that ridiculous cape beneath his boot and Zorro almost falls facefirst on the floor.
"What did you just say?"
"Nothing." Zorro says, looking increasingly panicked as Enrique switches to hold his cape, all his chances at escape gone.
"Because I must've misheard. To me, it almost sound like, though of course that is impossible - like you said 'I would kiss you if you asked.' But that would be absurd of course." Enrique grinned and stroked his moustache, ensured of his victory. He never thought this is how he would get Zorro under his spell!
His adversary is unwilling to go down easily though. "I said: I would kill you if you asked."
Enrique's shocked look had Diego biting his lip to hide his amusement, but he regretted his words when that look was replaced by anger.
"Are you threatening a military officer??" Up this close, it was hard not to notice Monastario's nostrils flaring.
"No, of course not." Diego backpedaled. "I just meant, if you don't really like your... um, life anymore..."
"I like my life plenty!" 'I have a lovely time chasing to the ends of the earth', he nearly added, but bit his tongue.
"It could always be better." Diego shrugged, trying to escape Enrique's grasp in the same movement.
The man in question frowned. "What are you insinuating?"
"Perhaps you are feeling a little lonely up here all by yourself." Diego said vaguely. He regretted his big mouth serverely, but the damage had been done and he had to salvage what remained of the situation.
"And you would help me with that?" Enrique raisd an eyebrow.
"Yes- no- not like that!" Diego flushed as if Enrique could somehow read his mind at that idea.
"And if I asked?"
"Asked what?"
"If I asked..." Monastario shuffled even closer to him, nearly crushing Diego againsts the wall. He glanced down at Diego's lips, his breath warm on Diego's cheeks. "Would you kiss me?" He whispered, the words alone enough to bridge the small gap between them.
Enrique's lips where softer than Diego had imagined them. He put his arms around Enrique, pressing him closer and the kiss ended too soon.
"Yes." Diego mumbled in response, entirely unnecessarily but he didn't care.
Enrique could ask him anything, and the answer would always be the same. He may have lost the hunt, but he had won a heart.
I spent too long on this last night
