Working on my Lavellan's ref/item sheet again and she finally has hair! Decided on the sectioned fringe in the end (other ideas below)

I still feel like there needs to be something in the gap at the bottom though, but I'm not sure what other item to give her!

Just finished DAI recently, and I just started Veilguard last night, so here's my Rook! Their name is Alya Mercar, an elven mage Shadow Dragon. I made my Inquisitor, Vela, as well. I'm excited to see where the story goes 🥰

(sorry, I think I ended up doing this twice lmao) re: oc talk - I headcanon that my Lavellan didn't have her vallaslin removed by Solas because they mean something different to her, but mostly because with her clan gone her marks feel like the only thing still connecting her to those that she lost. She has June vallaslin because her father was their craftsman and he taught her how to carve her first staff. :)

(nope, only once!) Oh no! Poor thing. I always feel so bad for Lavellans that lose their clan. :( That makes perfect sense though. I’d like to think Solas respected that and understood her choice completely.

Avira has a rather complicated relationship with her vallaslin (also June’s). She spent most of her formative years fighting an uphill battle for the clan’s approval. At 17, despite all her hard work, she overheard the hahren saying they would never grant a ‘flat-ear’ vallaslin. It was a tipping point, and she resolved to run away. When she was attacked on the road, she manifested magic, and only then did she gain the clan’s begrudging acceptance, her vallaslin along with it. Their negative sentiment ruined what she felt should have been the proudest moment of her life, and even years later, she holds a great deal of ambivalence towards them. 

When she learned their true origin, her first reaction was repulsion at the fact that the ancient would enslave their own kind. But then she thought about what they meant now: sign of maturity and full membership to the clan. At least, that’s what they were for most. To her, they were a sign of a time when she was willing to do or tolerate almost anything to try to gain her clan’s approval.

But she no longer their approval. She had finally earned her own.

I’m mostly just speaking for Lea here, cuz Vela belongs to @alynshirsloverI’m also not sure who I’m clarifying this for, since you asked me the questions...

2) How’s their team work? Do they share well?

I think that they work pretty well together, generally. Vela is practical, and Lea is pretty easy-going. She’s willing to compromise in most situations, and usually follows Vela’s lead. And Lea’s pretty happy to share what she has with Vela, I would think.

4) First impression of each other? Was it love at first sight?

Lea found Vela attractive from the beginning, but she was more concerned about, like…the world ending and stuff when they met. So I guess it wasn’t exactly love at first sight, but Lea might have been a bit tongue-tied upon meeting her.

Besides thinking she was stunning, Lea’s first impression was that Vela was extremely intelligent, certainly the kind of person she could feel good about working for. She also might have found Vela to be a little frosty. But she doesn’t mind following someone who’s not emotional, so long as they do the right thing. So yeah. Hot, smart, and unfriendly, basically.

9) Do they discuss big issues? Religion? Marriage? Children? Death?

I think that Lea and Vela would probably have a lot of deep discussions, getting to know each other. Lea likes to joke around and tends to cover any discomfort with humor, but Vela’s straightforwardness would prevent her from bullshitting her way out of any serious questions.

And honestly, she does like talking about serious things, especially once she gets to know Vela a bit better. Vela is smart and learned and has a very different background than her, so discussions about religion in particular would be pretty interesting.

12) Is there a wedding? What was the proposal like? Any kind of honeymoon?

Maybe?? Eventually??

Lea’s a huge stupid romantic despite her concerns about relationships. She would definitely start thinking about proposing once they had been together a few years (Seriously thinking, I mean. She’d be dreamily doodling “Mrs. Lea Lavellan” in her journal way before that). I imagine that she would be a little hesitant, perhaps worried that Vela would find the whole idea of marriage to be pointless.

But she’d probably broach the topic eventually and try to figure out if it’s something Vela would want. When she proposed, it would probably be pretty sappy. She’d take Vela somewhere that reminded her of moments in their relationship (perhaps dancing in Val Royeax?). She’d want to bring in her Dalish heritage somehow (though I can’t imagine Lea hunting down an animal shortly before proposing…) She would definitely give a little speech about how much she loves her and why and probably get weepy halfway through. Hopefully she could actually get to the “will you marry me” without bursting into tears.

Honeymoon somewhere in Orlais because Vela likes it, and Lea’s never been to such fancy places before, and she likes bread.

29) How do the handle disasters or emergencies? Minor injuries? Sickness?

Lea’s a healer, so she can usually keep a pretty cool head through emergencies. If it was something serious involving Vela, she would probably try to hide how worried she was and work through it. She tends to kind of fuss and smother people when she’s worried about them, though, so it would be pretty obvious. When she’s injured, she generally downplays it. She would only kick up a fuss if it was a minor injury and she was being overdramatic to make people laugh.

When Vela’s sick, Lea goes into full mother hen mode, making mass quantities of chicken noodle soup and getting cold compresses and tucking her into bed and whatnot. She can’t cure the common cold, but she’ll pamper the hell out of Vela anyways.

If Lea’s genuinely sick, she’d probably hole herself up in a blanket nest and try not to bother anyone. People have to force her to let them take care of her.

33) What kind of presents do they get each other? Do they only do it on special occasions?

Lea doesn’t usually buy stuff for Vela, but she gives her lots of little things. Especially notes. Sometimes practical things, like maps with helpful notes in the margins. But once they get together, she likes to leave little romantic notes in her pack or on her desk, along with flowers. Just bits of poetry, or jokes, or compliments, or the occasional more…explicit note.

She also loves to cook for Vela.

She would buy her things when she could. On special occasions, or if she saw something that really reminded her of Vela. Books about stars, or telescopes. Pretty pins for her hair. A green silk scarf that matched her eyes. That sort of thing.

36) What’s their greatest strength as a couple? Their weakness?

Lea’s a caring and gentle person. She’s very considerate in her relationships. So I guess her greatest strength as part of a couple would be her thoughtfulness? She would always be very attentive to Vela’s needs and wants, as well as the needs of the relationship.

Her weakness is probably her doubt. She’s been hurt in the past and has pretty low self-esteem in some respects. So at least at the beginning of their relationship, she would pretty much be expecting Vela to dump her whenever she got sick of her. She would need time and reassurance to realize that she’s not…like, romantically disposable.
