Change and Order
Here I am with the review of this week’s “Let’s Listen to”! Today’s subject is a release by the visual kei band The Gallo, precisely the 18th single Veltro, come out today. The title comes from the famous figure seen in Dante’s Inferno, a symbol of a radical change made for restabilish the order in the world. And now... let’s review!
-Veltro: the title-track opens the single, introduced by piercing bass lines, leading up to a fast and aggressive metal sound, underlined by an extreme guitar work; Jojo’s voice is freaking and flowing, with interesting high notes, building up a suggestive interpretation for a quite good rock track. ---> 9/10
-Kokkeiron -Saiseihen- (Theory of the black chicken -Role to play-): the first b-side is started by a pretty aggressive guitar, in an unregulated melody, driving up an extreme and well rhythmical theme; the vocals are more gritty and macabre, giving to the song a dark-ish vibe, alternated to a catchy part, for a decent tune. ---> 8/10
-Kokkeishiki sousoukyoku dainiban -Merak- (Funeral melody of the black chicken -Merak-): the single ends with a song kicked off by dark and melancholic notes, enriched by a steady guitar, put inside a quite fast rhythm; the vocals are clear and rapid in their own, for a good song, quite different from the vibe offered by the previous tracks. ---> 8.5/10
Final Vote ---> 8.5/10
The Gallo continues to be dark and interesting in their own, with estranging images surrounding releases of a certain content. Following up the dark and extravagant concept introduced by the previous single Pluto, Veltro brings up three good tracks, where the lead is surely the best one, even thanks to the technical refinement seen in the melody, provided by Andy’s exquisite bass, one of the key features of the single as whole, despite the not so linear contrast put out by the other two tracks. Once again, The Gallo shows off their unpredictable and grotesque style, in a quite balanced single, where the darkness is not the only constant and the talent of the band is surely visible. A single for who enjoys The Gallo’s dark and unpredictable music, even when it seems too much clear.
That’s all folks! See you tomorrow for the weekly time-travel in “Throwback Thursday”!
Thanks for the reading!

The Veltro diving into its target. It’s rather good at that. c:
So, in early march I decided to challenge myself and draw every single type of animal Saint Julien hunts with or kills in Flaubert’s short story. It almost took me two weeks cause there were a lot of them. These are quick studies from photographs. Next step is designing all of them but I also need sleep.
