So my first week in Orthopedics came to an end with a bang. And by “bang” I mean total knee replacement surgery, where the patient requested his knee and brought his own doggy bag (the surgeon turned him down).
Soon my month of rotations will be over too. I’ve enjoyed orthopedics way more than general surgery, but I can also see why they’re called “the Neanderthals of the surgery world”. It’s brutal, but so beautiful.
I’ll save my reflections on rotations for next week, but so far, I’ve gained a lot of perspective and motivation, which’s gotta count for something... right?
