Though her heart ached, Eclipsa fell back on her years of growing up in Butterfly castle to wear a composed mask while she walked through the devastated monster village, one in a long line she had encountered in her lifetime. Her current attempts to reclaim her kingdom and make it obey their queen certainly didn’t help curb the destruction.
She had to search for any survivors, even if there was only her to offer any relief. It had been days and she had already traveled far, but still Eclipsa remained separated from one of her squadrons after the latest battle with Butterfly forces. (She still carried hope that the monsters--and few mewman peasants--of that squadron weren’t all dead.)
Eclipsa stilled when she heard a small sound, and the grip on her wand marginally tightened. Either it was a survivor, or an enemy knight serving the regent-king, her ex-husband. If it was the former, she had to keep tight control over her fighting instinct; it would not do to even accidentally take a threatening stance against someone who had likely already suffered enough.
Looking toward the sound, Eclipsa did indeed find the former: a Septarian monster child around the corner of a ruined house.
Eclipsa lowered her umbrella-wand, knelt down, and held out one bandaged-but-still-gloved hand out to the child. “It’s all right,” she said, her voice clear and gentle. “I’m here to help.”
