Mid Week Salt (Personal opinions, bear in mind! :D)
The world is... Pretty garbage right now. There might be more time than ever, but motivation seems to be at an all time low.
Roleplay isn’t a job. No one is insisting you do X amount of replies a day. This is a HOBBY. It’s okay if you’re feeling burnt out or uninspired. You have every reason to take a step back and not write. You wanna share musings? Look up character aesthetics? Explore outfit ideas? Play dress-up games for new looks? Go for it! (and if it’s the last point, please share the links with me if you can dress male characters)
What isn’t okay is putting an immense pressure on yourself to write, or guilting yourself into it. Yes, you might have written more in January, but think about what’s happened since then. Nothing like this has ever happened before.
Let’s make it personal for a sec. Recent months have given me loads of free time, while my job is secure since I’m in a school. Bar one personal incident which had nothing to do with global events, life has been pretty fine for me. Yet we can all agree I’ve been absolutely dismal with writing. I can only imagine how much harder it’s been for people who have had to juggle job stresses or online coursework on top of all of this.
This could be a sort of stress that weighs gradually on the mind. Think of it like adding one block at a time to one side of the scales. You don’t realise it’s tipping out of balance until the basket touches the ground. It’s so gradual, you might not even feel you ‘deserve’ to be stressed. Not only that, the oodles of free time might be nagging at you to do something ‘productive’. Use the time for something else. Listen to music, watch movies, play video games.
I promise, it’s okay to not feel up to writing. Do not turn into your own worst enemy. Everyone is in the same boat, even if they don’t openly say it.
