"I feel like shit." Ventus rasps, quickly dissolving into another coughing fit that leaves him feeling light headed and breathless.

"You look like like it, too." Vanitas shoves a glass of water into his hands. It's cool against his feverish skin, blissfully cold when he takes several drinks. Ven whines when it's taken away from him, which earns him a sharp flick on the forehead. "Ow! I'm sick, you know. Can't you pretend to be nice?"

"No." Vanitas pushes him back down onto the pillows, something Ventus doesn't fight even if he did have the energy to do so. "Now shut up and sleep."

“Should I feel bad?” Ven leans away, bracing his chin on the palm of his hand.

Vanitas looks up at him, hair a dark halo splayed across their bedclothes; bruises under his eyes from taking care of Ven, over and over again. Skinny neck and shoulders, bruises on his biceps in the shape of Ven’s fingers.

Lots of focus on Vanitas as an entity who gained his own sentience outside of simply being "Darkness", and Ventus' crippling damage and growing insanity from the instability of being filled only with Light. It's a fate that is just as dangerous as being only Darkness. They ache for each other, and may find that they're the only ones who can truly understand each other. 🖤
