Back in his little, comfortable corner of Kingsholm after constant in and out of his hometown for work felt strange. The last proper duration of Rylan’s time here was during Christmas, knowing as his mother proudly shared pictures of all three of her kids making time in their compact schedules to visit her and make everything merry for her. It had been nearly two decades since his father’s passing and still, his mother couldn’t find it in her heart to replace her love for his father for another man. It was something he spoke about her from time to time, wondering what raced through her mind and how she felt. After all, with how much his mother got information out of Rylan, the tables have turned. She was the first person to know about him returning back to Kingsholm and making it his permanent residency after he allowed his architecture to roam around Europe. It was finally time he brought bits and pieces of his design into his small, yet refreshing hometown for other civilians to see.
It all started with a meeting with potential investors. One of them being his ex-girlfriend’s father, Mr. Valdes. Having nothing but respect for the male, even though his relationship with his daughter ended up in misery, it was easy to allow him to be involved. The older male knew people. It would allow people to fully support his decision and plan if he was completely onboard and he was. It was endless amount of meetings over the past month and a half. Making sure the land where Rylan wanted to build the brand new architecture was up to code and fit where he wanted to build brand new housing. This was his first step, which would take about six months on a stretch of a road to build a few new, modern like homes before moving toward office for companies to reside in. It was a grand plan. Even more ideas flowing his way, as the investors wanted to expand it from homes and offices, to more of a modern aspect in that corner of Kingsholm. Everything he dreamed about was coming to life. Tonight was the night where investors and local towns people were able to see the plan set in tone with 3D models and how eco-friendly each new building was going to be for their small town.
The widest smile consumed his freckled complexion, happiness glossing all over his features, feeling his cheeks start to hurt as he went from civilian to civilian, proudly thanking them for the investment in the brand new idea of Kingsholm. Once the couple, who occupied nearly twenty minutes of Rylan’s time and their vision for a new home they wanted to build, he found a way to slip away from the conversation. Immediately causing his beam to drop off his lips, a single hand lifting up toward the apple of his cheeks, rubbing away the tingling pain from his prolonged smile. Wandering feet headed straight toward a server, picking up a flute of champagne before an image, one Rylan hadn’t expected to see returning back to his life all over again. Vera Valdes. The last news he had ever heard about the woman whom he imagined a lifetime with was with another man, engaged and pregnant. That was the final straw of gossip and news he needed to hear about her causing him to move forward with his own life and attempting to forget about her presence in his life. The way she looked made him inhale deeply, nursing a sip of his champagne before approaching her on civil terms, “Hello, stranger.” He commented strangely through a growing smile, fading moments after another tingle of pain surfaced. Too soon. “What do you think?” Referring toward the final version of the constant headache due to his investors voiced opinions. Truthfully, he didn’t know where to begin or how to talk to her especially everything that unfolded between them. At this point, he needed to just sweep it under the rug and just hope she was much happier with him - whoever that man was.
