Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. spread the self-love ❤
Oof it's been a minute since I was online so this has been sitting in my inbox for forever 😅 but! Here goes:
1) Heart i's This one was so fun to write and I still love rereading it because it just makes me smile.
2) Little Blue this was the first major work I've ever completed at right around 50k words, and I was so incredibly proud of that accomplishment.
3) Pouring Alcohol on an Old Flame okay, I'll admit, my whole purpose in writing this one was to try to make Luka as hot as possible 😆
4) Casualty of Timing a bit controversial here, but I was working on conveying anger in this one and nailing a confrontation, and I was really proud of the result
5) Playing with Fire this is still unfinished, but I love the idea of this story and it still comes around to remind me that I'm not done writing yet and it will come back when it's ready 💖
So many good ones 👀👀👀 Haunted Mansion AU? Luka Gets a Perm? Dealer's choice if both of those are taken? 👀👀👀
Ask me about my WIPs
You get BOTH!
Luka Gets a Perm:
Luka loses a bet to Juleka, and as a result, she gets to do whatever she wants to his hair. She decides to give him a home perm, with the intention of it coming out looking like a bad 80's perm. It does not go according to her plan.
I only have four sentences written for this 😆 (and theist two are meant to go later in the story)
“So are we on?”
“Yeah,” he said, holding out his hand for them to shake on it.
Because what was the point in having a brother if she couldn’t embarrass him? Especially in front of his crush.
Haunted Mansion AU:
I had honestly completely forgotten about this fic completely until I was tagged to do this! But after opening this document, I can tell I wrote the notes for it when I probably should have been sleeping 😂
According to my notes, it is loosely based off of the premise of this fic
The class is given an opportunity to spend the summer at a chateau in the country that is famously haunted (though none of them believe it actually is). Upon arrival, they all meet Luka and the kwamis, who be all appearances are normal people. Except, they’re actually the spirits of the former inhabitants, who were cursed to remain as spirits until the curse can be broken. During their stay, the class (sans Marinette) begins to think the place is actually haunted and they try to set out to prove it (and they fail miserably). Meanwhile, Marinette befriends Luka and the Kwamis, and as she gets to know them, she begins to realize there’s something going on. And that she can help
(I really hope that’s at least semi coherent 😂)
It took me WAY too long to try and go through my notes for this, and I’ve already made a huge number of changes to my original notes. And I’m definitely going to do more, so this is a working synopsis that will probably end up being different if I ever end up writing this
Hey there! It’s time to share my art for the 2020 Lukanette Exchange @lukanette-exchange.
My recipient is @verfound, a talented, creative, and prodigious fan-fic writer!
I stuck with the prompt hair dye shenanigans, as I always love to see confident Marinette having a good time with her friends. :) I hope you enjoy the art -- and I’m so excited to read your AMAZING Lukanette fic, verfound!!
I’m sorry but some Lukanette content creators’ (who’ve been shitty to me) interpretations of their precious beloved Luka deserves to have his dick cut off because he’s so awful and rude to others in their terrible fanon.
Kiss prompts...a kiss between exes who meant to walk away? 👀 (I'm sure you know who/what I'm thinking 😝)
Nope I have no clue who/what you might mean 😆 absolutely no exes I can think of that might want a second chance 👀 (thanks for the ask Ver!)
“I don’t want to lie to you, Luka,” Marinette said, refusing to meet his eyes as she started blinking back tears. “I don’t think I can—I mean… maybe we should…” She squeezed her eyes shut. There was a lump in her throat making it hard to talk.
She didn’t want to do this.
Her eyes flew open when she felt Luka’s arms wrap around her to hold her gently.
“When you’re ready, I’ll be here, Marinette,” he said in her ear.
After a stunned moment, she returned his hug and laid her head on his shoulder, nuzzling into him. He didn’t let go until she did, and she turned away without looking at him again, afraid that if she did, her resolve would crumble.
So instead she focused her eyes on her feet and watched herself put one foot in front of the other until she’d walked the length of the bridge.
But then she looked back.
He was still standing there, watching her go. Letting her go.
But she didn't want to be let go.
She turned back to him, letting her heart lead for once instead of her head, and her halting footsteps turned into a run. She raced back to him and nearly knocked him over as she threw her arms around his waist and buried her face in his chest.
He let out a surprised chuckle as he steadied her, and just like before, his arms wrapped around her shoulders to hold her to him. She nuzzled into him again, trying to commit the scent and feel of his jacket to memory.
When she rested her chin on his chest to look up at him, she found him waiting patiently for an explanation. Instead of saying anything, she pushed up on her toes to press her lips firmly and decisively to his.
I SHOULD ask you for Out of Time - you know how excited I am for that one - buuuuuuuuuut...what's I Should Probably Go to Bed? 👀
I don't know how, but you managed to find the only Adrien-centered fic in the bunch 😆
You said your alternative was "let's get you cleaned up" so here's what I have of that instead 😅 (and the original ask under the cut, cause why not?)
This started with this post about "let's get you home" and I think I'm trying to work out a way to get all three of these in here 👀
Luka ran, following Ladybug, watching for when she finally touched down in an alleyway. He barely registered the flash of pink light before he was turning and searching frantically for Marinette.
He found her ducked down against the wall, hiding behind a dumpster, sobbing, with Tikki perched on her knee.
“I’m so glad I found you,” he breathed. Her head snapped up at his voice and she was terrified. She glanced between him and Tikki like she was trying to work out how to explain anything about the situation before she shrank down into herself and curled her hands around her elbows.
“What does it matter, anyways?” she said, more to Tikki than to him. “I’m the worst Ladybug ever. It’s probably best if I have to give you up.”
He followed his feet until he was squatting across from her, and he held out his hands. She looked back at him blankly.
“Come on,” he said, beckoning her gently. “Let’s get you home.”
I should probably go to bed is based off this song from Dan & Shay of the same title. It's post-hawkmoth, post-reveal, post-fall out between Adrien and Marinette, but from Adrien's POV.
As [Adrien] focused his eyes back on the coffee in his hands, his ears perked to the name that was being excitedly whispered by the group of girls near him.
“Look at this! Luke Stone! Ohmygosh he’s sooo dreamy...” A chorus of lovesick sighs followed the assessment, then a quiet pause as they continued reading.
“A break from touring?!” A not-so-hushed lament was echoed over the whole group, and the magazine was temporarily in danger of being ripped as one half of the group tried to tear it away from the others to read for themselves.
“Ooh! He mentioned he’d thought about coming to Paris! Do you think he will?”
“It doesn’t say why he’s retiring?” One of the girls, a shyer one it seemed, from her position on the fringes of the group, asked.
“‘No comment,’” another read, “‘Stone says with an enigmatic smile.’ But look! He has his arm around that designer in this one, what was her name?”
“Duh, everyone knows that’s Marinette Dupain-Cheng,” the girl wearing pigtails said, rolling her eyes. “They’ve been like a thing for forever now, and she designs all his stuff.”
“They are not a thing,” the first reader insisted. “Luke always just says she’s a talented designer and they’re close.”
“Yeah, ‘close,’ as in celebrity speak for dating.”
Adrien stood, unwilling to listen anymore or correct them. Luka and Marinette Couffaine were married, a year ago now. Nino had told Adrien before Alya could cut him off, glaring daggers at him with a toddler on her hip. Later, Nino had said he thought Marinette would’ve told Adrien. He’d managed to laugh it off somehow.
I’ve already answered 12, so I’ll answer 10 for you
10. If you had to do it all again, what would you change
This is honestly a super hard one to answer, but I think if I had to do it all again, I would have started using a discard doc earlier. I think I was only seriously writing for a month or two without a discard doc, but I’m extremely critical of my own writing (for perspective, the last chapter of Juleka bs. The forces of the universe was 6000 words I think? I had over 200 comments and notes for myself on things I wanted to change or scrap) everything that was scrapped went into my discard document, and looking at what I scrapped now, none of it was actually bad despite what I had told myself. So I’m really kicking myself for not saving all those things I scrapped during that two month period where I didn’t use a scrap doc because I have no real way of getting that back to find the biggest of gold that may have been hiding there.
that isn’t the only thing I would change, honestly there’s so much I would change but I don’t have the time or energy to write an essay right now 😂
I wasn’t sure if you were wanting to know about my writing process as a whole or about a fic, so if I didn’t touch on what you wanted me to, let me know 😅
*slides in like she hasn't kept forgetting this* For your 250 for 250 (CONGRATS BY THE WAY YOU AWESOME NERD~ 🖤🖤🖤)...washing the other's hair? Lukanette? Possibly even...if you're so inclined...PwF!verse? 👀
Thank you so much for the congrats and the prompt, Ver!! 😊 I wrote a little bonus scene for Playing with Fire. It takes place a little bit after Chapter 7 when they leave the tower. Hope you like it!!
15. Washing the other's hair (PwF version)
Marinette leaned over the spring they'd found that flowed beautifully clear and clean out of an outcrop of rocks that stood about shoulder height for her. She didn't want to think about how long it'd been since she'd had a chance to wash… anything, really, but especially her hair that she'd tied up in a bun to keep it away from her face and neck. She let it fall now, shaking it out and running her fingers through it, wincing as they snagged on terrible knots. Surely Luka wouldn't mind a small pit stop.
In fact, as she glanced over at him, he seemed transfixed, but he moved as she bent down and it made her pause.
"Can… can I?" he asked with another hesitant step forward.
They hadn't talked much about their moment in the library, or had any time to address the changing nature of their relationship, but his shy admission that he wanted to help her with this small domestic task made her blush as she nodded.
The water was cold, but his hands were warm and gentle as he started scooping the water over her head and rubbing it into her scalp, working away the grime that had built up from the dusty roads before he moved down to tease the knots out.
She knew now why he'd hummed when she'd been cutting his hair; his touch behind her ears and lingering on the back of her neck was making her shiver—and not from the cold.
