Martin Eden - 'Verions'

Lifted from his new album, Martin Eden's newest song has the most propulsion of anything previously heard. As part of their singles series launched last month, Lefse released ‘Worker’ / ‘Mothernails (for daren .1)’ as 7”. 'Worker' being a slow-building ambient piece with a worming synth buzz. The flip-side, ‘Mothernails (for daren .1)’, a scattery chase of static fuzz, brushed snares and detached vocals.

To recap, Martin Eden is the new moniker of Eluvium’s Matthew Cooper (referencing the 1909 book by Jack London about “a young proletarian autodidact struggling to become a writer”). Released a couple of weeks back, 'Verion' moves to a minimal tech beat, coloured by organic crunches and glacial effects. That's it put simply. It's an imaginatively filled eight-minute composition, with space enough left to for the mind to take it further. It's the lead single from his Dedicate Function LP - out now, also on Lefse.
