You've been away for quite a while -- maybe it's time to call it a day. You've had to keep up the façade for so long you're starting to forget who you really are. This calls for a nice cup of tea and an early evening in. Pack it up, settle down. Come home to yourself.

If you were to represent each of your muses with an animal, what would they each be?

I thought of answers very quickly for three of my muses, and the others I have no idea. ^^; I’ll just do these three for now.

Akutagawa is a black dog. Aside from his various nicknames in canon involving dogs (and literally being called the mafia’s hellhound), thematically black dogs are associated with bringing death or associated with the devil. The common description of a big black monster with red eyes is similar to his ability.

Eugene is a mouse. They’re small, shy, and get into places where they’re not supposed to be. Also, they apparently used to be linked to the underworld because they lived underground.

Rengoku is an owl. This one is just because he was compared to an owl a few times in his source, and there is a visual similarity. (And they happen to be one of my favourite animals.) If we want to be specific, he’d be some kind of scops owl, rufous morph.

he’s still discovering how people celebrate holidays up on the surface. he spent so long underground, his only knowledge of these things came from books and magazines he read. he’s never really celebrated halloween, or christmas, or anything major. how could he ? so he’s curious when he regards the halloween decorations hung up. bats ? and skeletons ? and ... are those pumpkins ? with funny faces carved in ! 

‘ ... do you think we could get one ? and carve it ? please ? ‘ it was worth a shot, at least. the worst they could say was no. and he’d like to see what the fuss is all about. and... it looked fun.

   “  So  you’re  the  human  spying  ,  hm  ?  You’re  quite  good  at  noticing  when  something  is  amiss.  Very  few  humans  have  ever  suspected  me  of  being  nonhuman  while  on  an  outing.  “

   Barbatos  wasn’t  certain  who  this  figure  was  ,  but  it  was  intriguing  all  the  same.  A  sorcerer  perhaps  ?  A  practitioner  of  something  certainly.  It  was  the  only  explanation  of  why  the  other  might  have  sensed  that  something  wasn’t  quite  right.  How  amusing.  Spying  was  certainly  better  than  immediate  hostility  as  far  as  he  was  concerned.  Not  because  it  was  ever  a  concern  to  him  ,  but  it  was  a  hassle.

   A  gloved  hand  raised  to  cross  his  chest  in  imitation  of  formal  behavior.  “  I  assure  you  I  don’t  intend  to  cause  any  problems.  I’ve  heard  the  tea  from  this  region  is  quite  remarkable  and  couldn’t  help  but  want  to  try  the  experience  myself.  “

What he's gotten for Sigma is a book of various Japanese myths and legends, along with a scarf, picked out for how very soft and plush it felt to the touch. (He cannot vouch for the color personally, the clerk assured him it was an elegant pearl white however). Jono knows the Summer months are coming and a scarf is all but useless, but Winter will come along in due time and Sigma deserves to be warm and cozy when it does.

Perhaps the gift is simple; perhaps it is Jono's way of promising there will still be a Them in the future, whatever else may come.

   There’s  never  an  expectation  of  gifts.  He  knows  that  it  is  a  normal  thing  ,  and  the  staff  and  guests  alike  are  often  to  bring  them  ,  but  Sigma  doesn’t  demand  or  expect  it.  Simple  company  would  be  more  than  plenty  ,  so  simply  seeing  Jono  earns  a  bright  smile  and  warm  welcomings.  (  It  always  does  ,  but  even  more  today.  )

   “  You  didn’t  have  to  ,  but  thank  you  very  much.  “  Sigma  replies  ,  eyes  closing  as  the  kiss  is  pressed  against  his  temple  before  accepting  the  gift.  Its  the  person  and  gesture  that  means  more  than  anything  else.  Though  the  gift  is  not  to  be  neglected  ;  after  a  moment  the  manager  opens  his  eyes  to  open  the  gift.

   The  sharp  inhale  is  sign  enough  of  Sigma’s  excitement  upon  seeing  the  book.  No  doubt  he’ll  later  be  found  buried  in  it  ,  eager  to  add  to  his  extensive  array  of  knowledge  on  mythology.  it  is  the  perfect  gift  ,  and  his  excitement  is  practically  tangible  in  the  air.

   But  the  scarf  is  not  neglected.  Fingers  wrap  around  the  soft  fabric  ,  enjoying  how  comforting  it  felt  to  his  touch.  The  implication  of  course  is  not  missed.  That  they’ll  still  be  here  in  winter  ,  scarf  being  not  only  comforting  and  soft  but  symbolic.  And  for  that  it  is  all  the  sweeter  of  a  gesture.  His  excitement  has  not  faded  ,  but  smile  turns  softer  and  sweet  as  the  runs  his  thumb  over  it  once  more.

   “  Truly  ,  thank  you. Το εκτιμώ πάρα πολύ.   Μου έφτιαξες τη μέρ,  you’ve  made  my  day.  “  Soft  words  accompanied  with  Sigma’s  warm  smile  and  kiss  for  the  Hunting  Dog.
