It had managed to slip his mind that he had been growing nearer to running out of what he normally takes to make sure he can actually get to sleep. Time has not been his friend in this either because he’d been overall too busy to worry about something that seemed so trivial at this point. His inherent aversion of most medicine didn’t really help with that issue either. Certainly didn’t motivate him to go and get more, despite it being damn near essential at this point. Now time was catching up with him too.
Despite that, Demitr wasn’t one to ignore or change pre-existing plans, though ignoring it did cross his mind in this case. It was just Decima, after all, nothing that important. She’d likely find a way to spin the situation on its head, however, and even while tired, the violetblood could deal with her easily enough. He’s functioned this long without sleep, he should be just fine.
He’s fairly sure that the tealblood noticed something was off as soon as he’d arrived, but her apparent concern was waved off. They had a date, after all. Hybris wouldn’t be around for… three hours? Four hours? They had time, but not that much of it. As such, the two took to a table opposite of each other to begin their games. Best two out of three, winner picks the movie they’d watch soon after. Demitr would make that medic watch a particularly gruesome war movie or documentary if he won, while Decima was more liable to make him watch something like a shitty romance flick, if he was guessing right. If it ended up being the latter, he’d probably just interrupt it at some point anyway.
As it turns out, playing three games of chess in a row while literally exhausted is not the best thing one can do, particularly not if they would prefer to win said games.
Lost the first, won the second, lost the third. Barbs were exchanged and a movie was selected. Ever hospitable, even in hatred, the tealblood took to getting some kind of a snack for them both, which turned out to be two separate things. Something for herself and Swedish Fish for him, which earned her a raised brow and a critical look. Not that he didn’t like them, no quite the opposite, but there had been… events in the past that he sincerely doubts she’s forgotten about. Still, he accepts them but does not yet open them.
The movie begins, though his interest is already lost maybe five minutes in, which he would consider a generous amount of time for such a thing, really. Demitr didn’t really notice it, but at some point he ended up leaning heavily on Decima, which she chose not to comment on (yet). It was damn near inevitable that his eyes eventually closed, both disengaged from the movie and with Decima as a leaning post.
She might’ve woken him up if not for the fact that he looked like he needed at least some rest, as well as a refill or two on his medication. Besides, if he’s asleep, then that means he won’t be talking through the entirety of the movie.

There were very few times that Laveri mentioned something or delivered a certain line or two that hinted at his deeper intelligence that most trolls believed he didn’t have. That was, of course, intentional, but this was Tovani he was talking to and the topic that they’d somehow gotten around to was a more serious one as a general rule.
She’d brought up some event not long ago that was supposedly in their favor in terms of the hemospectrum and the yellowblood tilted his head to look at his moirail, lips pursed in thought. Suddenly, he spoke up and interrupted her. “We point to progress with the hope it will distract from crimes against the wisdom of the past. Trolls have tried, trolls have failed. Just because this one little thing happened doesn’t mean anything’ll actually fucking change.”

I am joined the United States Navy and will be at boot camp.
