Annie had smelled the humans before she'd seen them, but humans out and about wasn't an odd thing, especially considering they were at a cafe having a nice lunch. What was odd was the way they were looking at Scott, the thinly veiled anger on their faces. To her knowledge, Scott wasn't one to go around hurting people but in the back of her mind she remembered him mentioning 'hunters' and while she had no experience with them herself, she wasn't about to let them do anything to him.
To her, they weren't much of a threat. The chance of them knowing she was a vampire were slim to none and it was obvious they were her for Scott and not her. Her head tilts, taking in every tiny movement of the two men in front of them and the moment one of them reached out to grab onto Scott, she was in front of him, hand grabbing onto the man's wrist with a harsh squeeze—a quick twist, and the satisfying sound of his bones snapping—before she spoke.
"Don't touch him."
The man doesn't scream—hardly makes a sound other than a grunt of pain—and while she almost wished he had, she didn't want to draw more attention than they already were.
She could feel Scott's hand grabbing onto her free hand and she gives it a gentle squeeze—a dichotomy to her grasp on the hunter—as she listens to him talk them down, much gentler than she would have.
Letting go of the man, she watched him stumble briefly before they both left, eventually blending with the crowd and disappearing. "Ugh—"
Her eyes turn towards Scott, and she gives him a small shrug, her expression changing quickly to a small smile now that they were finally gone. "Ah—A ten. I don't—I don't do well when people threaten someone I care about. As you... just saw."
A sheepish look crosses her face as she watches him for any hint of unease. "I uh...Sorry, if it made you uncomfortable. I just figured they couldn't hurt me as much as they could've hurt you."
