hi! i took palestinian arabic for a year and MSA for two before that. what are your best/favorite palestinian arabic resources?
Hello, there!
Well, since it’s my native dialect, I’d say that my favorite resource is my mom :D
Jokes aside, I didn’t learn this dialect by using resouces, but there’s a short book about the Palestinian dialect (more specifically, Nablus dialect) that my grandpa gave me called نابلس : أسامي و معاني و أغاني (Nablus : names, meanings and songs) by هاني إبراهيم العزيزي Hani Ibrahim Alazizi.
It’s a very interesting book, it’s fun to read. As the name suggests, this book has information about the famous names of the areas in the city of Nablus, then the majority of this book has words (mostly slang) in the dialect with the explanation in MSA. The last part of it has traditional / folk songs (in weddings, eid, ramadan, etc).
If I come across any interesting books, I’ll update this post ^^
I’ll also refer you to a post that I made about Palestinian dialect [here]
Finally, I’m always open for vocabulary list requests if you want something in the Palestinian dialect.
