DC OC: Silas Vance

Short version: An immortal man who made a contract with the lord of orders to survive while in exchange, he is an agent that finishes spirits unfinished business so that the spirits can go to the after life and move on.

Fun fact: he does approach heroes or any character that involves them of a ghost unfinished business. So you can just imagine the amount of paperwork that he has to deals with John Const. 😭

Background-

Silas Vance was a mid century U.S. Marine who lived by a strict, code of duty, order, and survival. His rigid worldview shattered during a devastating urban combat operation in a region heavily scarred by decades of conflict, misery, and unaddressed trauma. When his unit was caught in a massive ambush, the violent deaths in such a concentrated space tore a microscopic rift in the fabric of the afterlife, creating a massive supernatural "knot" of restless souls. Silas died in the breach alongside his comrades. However, driven by stubborn military discipline and a flat out refusal to abandon his men, his spirit anchored itself to the threshold of death.

This defiance caught the attention of the Lords of Order operating through the cosmic bureaucracy of the Parliament of Limbo. Facing a massive backlog of unsequestered souls causing spiritual stagnation, they saw an opportunity in a highly disciplined, pragmatic soldier who literally refused to stay dead. Silas was offered a binding agreement and sent back to the mortal coil. Decades later, he exists as a man out of time

Contract-

Silas's existence is entirely dictated by a cosmic legal agreement stamped by the Lords of Order. Silas is designated as a specialized, Earth-bound cosmic anchor. He is contractually obligated to remain on the mortal plane until the massive spiritual ledger of backlogged souls assigned to him is completely balanced and cleared. Silas cannot permanently die. Every time his physical body stops functioning or sustains fatal damage, the contract automatically voids the death. The sheer cosmic weight of the agreement drags his soul right back into his physical shell, forcing him to get up, dust himself off, and continue his shift. Because his soul is already claimed by the highest bureaucratic authorities of cosmic law, it cannot be bought, sold, bartered, or manipulated by external forces.

Powers-

Silas’s resurrection left physical scars mostly notably blindness in his left eye, a pronounced exophthalmic bulge. However, this "broken" eye is the focal point of his contract. While his right eye sees the standard physical world, his left eye perceives the spiritual plane. When he focuses, his left pupil transforms into a glowing, geometric Ankh (the symbol of the Lords of Order) surrounded by faint, glowing mathematical ledger lines. This allows him to track ectoplasmic signatures and see lingering spirits invisible to mortals.

Silas possesses a localized supernatural artifact: a heavy, black rotary desk phone bound to Limbo’s bureaucratic network. It requires no standard phone lines or wall jacks. Instead, it rings whenever a spirit has business so pressing that it disrupts the natural cosmic order. Silas can also manually dial specific "spectral frequencies" to conduct interviews with deceased victims.

it symbolizes that silas feelings for Lucifer are the one thing that completely breaks his rules. It is a devotion so intense that not even the afterlife or his contract can clean it from his soul.
