I got a slightly miscut Very Cryptic Command! If you look at where the silver border turns black, you'll see it didn't get cut evenly. Do y'all think that makes it worth more or less? Regardless it's cool and I'm probably keeping it.

Say i played the Very Cryptic Command that has "copy target instant/sorcery..." choosing any 2 options. I then play another VCC of the same type choosing to copy the first, can i make new choices for the copy of the spell or does it copy the choices i originally made?

You can never change the mode or modes of a modal spell (a spell that says choose one, choose two, etc.) when you copy it. At least there isn’t yet a spell that allows you to do so, and for good reason: Allowing you to change the modes of a spell would allow for modes without legal targets to be chosen and that would be awkward since the copy is already on the stack.

Unstable’s variants — Part I: The Patchwork Cycle

As you may know, Unstable will be the first Magic set in a long time to have numerous non-basic land cards with different variations. But since we are in the marvelous world of silver-bordered Magic, those cards can not only have a different art or flavor text, but also different names or abilities!

There is different categories of card’s variations in this set. The first type, shown above, is made of a cycle of six cards (one for each color and one colorless artifact). In this cycle, each variation of a card share the same name and art (with the notable exception of Very Cryptic Command A). However, they all have their one unique abilities!

Zoltan Boros wasn’t at GP Seattle, but this rogue painted on the back of a Very Cryptic Command (rogue version) came in the mail just before, and I can’t help but show it off. I love the perspective on this, like we’re hiding behind the corner as well.
